Description

Method for working wood, plastics etc., using a ', machining centre having an inclinable work table and a chip conveyor.
Technical field
The present invention relates to a method for machining blanks of wood, plastic, gypsum, or similar material in the manufacture of doors, for instance, or other building elements, furniture, etc. in which the blank is secured to a work table and machining is performed with the aid of machining tools, such as milling tools, and in which the work table with the blank is placed in substantially vertical position, i.e. at an angle of at least 45° to the horizontal plane.
Background Art
Blanks such as non-metallic blanks, are normally machined on a horizontal work table, fans therefore being required to remove shavings, fine-grained material such as wood flour, etc., entailing inconvenience from the environmental point of view, and wasted energy to drive suction fans, for instance. The shavings, etc. also complicate machining by settling on the blank and impeding further machining.
It is known per se to perform similar machining at a slanting work table, but here too said environmental inconvenience and difficulties in further machining also occur.
Summary of the Invention
The method according to the invention is aimed at solving these and other similar problems, and is characterised in that machining is performed in vertical or substantially vertical position and that a channel is placed under the work table to collect shavings, etc. from the machining, said channel being provided with means, e.g. a worm conveyor, for transporting this material away. There is therefore no real need for suctions fans or brushing and the shavings disappear from the work table and are transported easily away to a suitable place with minimal energy requirement and under environmentally acceptable conditions.
Drawings
The invention is exemplified in more detail in the accompanying drawings in which Figure 1 shows a means for performing the method, seen from the side, and Figure 2 the same means, seen from the front. Description of the Drawings
The drawings show a work table (8) located substantially vertically. The machine comprises a stand in which a tool (5) can move in three dimensions/ axes X, Y, Z, numerically controlled (CNC) by a computer/ component program. A slide (1) runs on horizontal beams (2) arranged to form a substantially vertical plane for machining of the work piece (at least 45° to the horizontal plane). On the slide (1) moving in Y- direction (Fig. 2) runs a transverse slide (3) with a direction of movement defined as X-direction according to Figure 2. Said slide is provided with a spindle unit (4) and tool (5) having a direction of movement along the Z- axis (see Fig. 1).
The machine, which is entirely enclosed, is provided at its lower portion with a worm conveyor for transporting away shavings, wood flour or the like produced during the machining, and from a channel beneath the work table (see Fig. 2).
In order to retain the work pieces (7), the work table with fixture rails (8) is so arranged that movement in Y-direction can be effected with the aid of the slide (1) and pushers (9) assembled on the fixture rails and automatically operable from the CNC program, said pushers fitting attachments (10) provided in the slide (1).
When machining work pieces (blanks) of easily machined material such as wood, gypsum, plastic, etc., in the position shown, most of the machining shavings, dust, etc. will fall down under the table into a channel and will be transported away by a worm conveyor (4). The table can be set at different angles. However, the essential feature is that it is substantially vertical so that shavings, etc. fall down as shown. The blank (7) can be secured to the fixture rails by means of vacuum suction, magnetic attachment, clamping, etc. The method according to the invention can be varied in many ways within the scope of the following claims.
