Abstract

Un procédé servant à localiser, à l'intérieur d'un plan horizontal (x, y), un dispositif sous le sol comprend les étapes suivantes: mise en place du dispositif dans un boîtier allongé (1) comprenant des moyens servant à générer un champ électromagnétique (2), montage du moyen de génération (2) dans le boîtier (1), afin qu'il effectue une rotation par rapport à l'axe longitudinal du boîtier, de telle manière que le champ généré est un champ solénoïdal, dont l'axe reste sensiblement vertical quand l'axe longitudinal est horizontal, même quand le boîtier (1) tourne autour de l'axe longitudinal; mise en place de moyens de détection au-dessus du sol à proximité de la position directement au-dessus des moyens de génération, les moyens de détection comprenant au moins une antenne (35) servant à détecter le champ électromagnétique généré par les moyens de génération (2); et contrôle du signal détecté par l'antenne, afin de déterminer la position dans le plan horizontal (x, y) des moyens de génération (2) par rapport aux moyens de détection. La forme du champ solénoïdal vertical produit une variation importante du champ depuis une position située directement au-dessus du générateur à une position légèrement éloignée de ce dernier, ce qui permet de calculer avec davantage de précision la position du moyen de génération par rapport aux moyens de détection.
