Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil de traitement de la prostate. Dans un mode préféré de réalisation, l'appareil comprend une tige ayant un premier canal axial et un manchon disposé dans le canal axial de la tige, le manchon ayant un passage axial avec extrémité distale ouverte. Le passage axial du manchon possède une partie distale disposée suivant un angle par rapport à la direction axiale. Une fibre optique est disposée dans le passage axial du manchon et possède un connecteur à son extrémité proximale pour en assurer sa connexion à un laser, ainsi qu'une extrémité pointue distale pour pénétrer dans les tissus. On peut faire avancer de manière distale la fibre optique dans le passage axial du manchon et la faire dévier vers la prostate à l'aide de la partie distale coudée du passage axial. La fibre optique peut ainsi sortir par l'urètre et pénétrer dans la prostate. Une énergie au laser délivrée par l'intermédiaire de la fibre optique et arrivant directement dans la prostate permet d'effectuer l'ablation des tissus de la prostate. L'appareil peut également comprendre des moyens optiques ménagés dans la tige pour la visualisation du côté distal de la tige afin de faciliter la pénétration dans la prostate à l'endroit désiré.
