Description

The invention relates to a brush, in particular a toothbrush, with a brush head arranged in the extension of a handle and provided with bristles.
In the case of the usual brushes of this type, the brush head is rigid. The brush head can be concave or convex. However, it is not possible to change the existing form. The consequence of this is that only one part of the denture that matches the shape of the brush can be satisfactorily cleaned.
It has also been proposed to provide a flexible brush head and to slidably receive it on an S-shaped handle. This is true a change in the brush curvature is possible by moving the brush head from one end of the S-shaped handle to the other end. However, the curvature of the brush head that can be achieved is fixed by the configuration of the S-shaped handle. On the other hand, a curvature of the brush head that deviates from the curvature of the handle is not possible. Here, too, there is therefore the risk that individual parts of the bit cannot be cleaned satisfactorily. In addition, the proposal mentioned requires a comparatively complicated brush structure and leads to difficult handling. The proposal mentioned therefore also proves to be not user-friendly enough.
Proceeding from this, it is therefore the object of the present invention to create a brush of the type mentioned at the outset which, despite maintaining the proven design with a brush head firmly attached to the handle, has a brush head which can be individually adjusted in its curvature.
This object is achieved according to the invention in that the brush head is flexible at least in one plane and that a pulling and pushing element acts on the end of the brush head remote from the handle, which is attached on the other hand to an actuating member which is adjustably received on the handle.
These measures advantageously allow an exact adaptation of the brush curvature to the circumstances of the individual case and therefore enable the in any case Achieving an optimal cleaning effect. Nevertheless, it is possible to maintain the proven brush structure with the brush head firmly attached to the handle, which not only ensures simple handling, but also a simple and robust structure.
Advantageous further developments and expedient configurations of the superordinate measures are specified in the subclaims. The pulling and pushing element can expediently be designed as a band-shaped leaf spring. Such an element can advantageously adapt easily to each curvature while maintaining the pulling or pushing effect and also results in an elastic restoring force.
A further advantageous measure can consist in the brush head having a flexible strip which receives the bristles and which is provided with portal-shaped yokes arranged one behind the other in the longitudinal direction. The yokes, which are arranged one behind the other at a distance, create a tunnel for a protected arrangement of the pulling and pushing elements and at the same time allow the required mobility of the brush head.
Further advantageous refinements and appropriate further training of the superordinate measures result from the remaining subclaims in connection with the example description below.
The toothbrush on which the drawing is based, as shown for example in FIG. 1, consists of a handle-shaped handle 10 which carries a brush head 11 arranged in its extension. This is provided with bristle tufts 12 arranged in a row. The brush head 11 can be flexibly deformed in the direction parallel to the central longitudinal plane of the brush, ie it can be arched with respect to an axis running transversely to the central longitudinal plane. The brush head 11 can be brought from the bristle-side convex curvature on which FIG. 1 is based, via the stretching position on which FIG. 2 is based, to the concavely arched position on which FIG. 3 is based. As an alternative or in addition to the flexibility parallel to the central longitudinal plane, flexibility across this would also be conceivable. The brush head 11 consists, as can best be seen from FIG. 5, of a flexible base strip 11a molded onto the handle, into which the bristle tufts 12 are inserted, and on the side facing away from the bristle tufts .12 is overlapped by portal-shaped yoke elements 11b arranged one behind the other at a distance. These accordingly limit a tunnel 18 passing through the brush head 11. The underside of the base strip 11a is flush with the underside of the adjacent handle 10. The top of the yoke elements 11b merges flush with the top of the adjacent handle 10. Gaps 13 are provided between the adjacent yoke elements 11b. Despite a comparatively large overall thickness of the brush head 11, these enable unhindered flexibility parallel to the central longitudinal plane. The base strip 11a receiving the bristle tufts 12 practically functions as a spring strip which, after a deflection, automatically returns to the extended position on which FIG. 2 is based.
At the gripping end of the base bar 11b, a pulling and pushing element 14 engages through the tunnel 18, which on the other hand is fastened to an actuating member 16 in the form of a lockable sliding cam which is slidably received on the handle 10. The push and pull element 14 is designed as a band-shaped leaf spring, the ends of which can be pinned to the base strip 11a or the actuating member 16, as indicated at 15. The leaf spring forming the push and pull element 14 is moved to the office by moving the actuating member 16 " . sten head compressed and tensioned by moving the actuator 16 away from the brush head 11. Since the pulling and pushing element 14 engages over the base strip 11a, this is, as shown in FIG. 1, in the event of tensioning of the pulling and pushing element 14 downward, ie convexly curved on the bristle side. In the event of compression of the pulling and pushing element 14, the base strip 11a, as shown in FIG. 3, is arched upwards, ie concavely on the bristle side. In order to facilitate this, the section of the leaf spring forming the pulling and pushing element 14 penetrating through the tunnel 18 can be designed by shaping or pretensioning such that an upward curvature occurs in the event of a compression.
The sliding cam forming the actuating member 16 can, as can best be seen from FIG. 4, be provided with a pin 17 engaging in a groove 19 of the handle 10. The pulling and pushing element 14 is fastened to this in the example shown. The groove 19 has a plurality of notches 20, which are formed here by bore-shaped cross-sectional expansions, into which the pin 17 can be latched when the actuating member 16 is moved. The cross section of the pin 17 acting as a locking head corresponds approximately to the cross section of the cross-sectional expansions of the groove 19 functioning as locking notches 20. The locking notches 20 are each assigned different curvatures of the brush head 11. In the example shown, only three notches 20 are indicated, the middle notch of the stretching position on which FIG. 2 is based and the two outer notches of the bulges on which FIGS. 1 and 3 are based. should be assigned to bundles. If further intermediate positions are to be adjustable in addition to the extreme positions shown, further locking notches are simply to be provided.
The groove 19 can be positioned on the handle 10 so that it connects directly to the tunnel 18 of the brush head 11. In the example shown, the groove 19 is spaced from the brush head 11. Accordingly, the handle 10 is provided with a guide channel 21, which opens on the one hand into the tunnel 18 and on the other hand into the groove 19 and is formed by a longitudinal recess, through which the leaf spring forming the pulling and pushing element 14 can be pushed. The guide channel 21 results in exact straight guidance of the push-pull and push-in element 14, so that it cannot deflect on the handle side. In contrast to this, as can best be seen from FIG. 5, the clear cross section of the tunnel 18 is enlarged compared to the cross section of the pulling and pushing element 14.
The example description above is based on a toothbrush that can be moved by hand. Of course, it would also be conceivable to apply the measures according to the invention in the context of a brush that can be moved by motor, for example a brush that can be moved electrically or by hydropower.
