  • the invention relates to a machine for the dosing in portions of a consumer product in accordance with a predetermined dosing recipe, where the dosing takes place from a stock of the consumer product which is transferred to the machine, and also to the packing for the consumer product.
  • Such machines can, for example, be arranged for the brewing in portions of coffee, tea or other beverages by mixing a concentrate of the relevant beverage with water. It is typical in such machines ,to find one or more containers, each of which holds its concentrate for the making of a drink in accordance with individual recipes.
  • a portion is understood to be, for example, a cup or a beaker of beverage, and the brewing of a portion takes place by the machine dosing a certain amount of a concentrate from the store into one of the containers in the machine in accordance with a predetermined recipe, which is individual for each drink type.
  • the dosed amount of concentrate is mixed with hot or cold water, where the mixing process can also be individual and be determined by the individual dosing recipe.
  • the packing is provided with information corresponding to the dosing recipe in a form which can be scanned by the machine's reading unit.

This number corresponds at least to the number of portions which can be expected to be dosed from the amount of consumer product in the packing under normal circumstances, and which is transferred to the machine's store.
  • the machine can be made to use a varying dose or possibly be rendered unable to dose the consumer product.
  • the function of the machine is hereby conditional upon the purchase and use of consumer products from the supplier of the machine.
  • the packing it is expedient for the packing to be provided with information corresponding to a last date of use for the consumer product and, as disclosed in claim 4, for the machine to prevent the dosing of the consumer product if this date is exceeded. For example, if the last date of use for the consumer product has been exceeded when it is transferred to the machine, it will thus not be able to be dosed. Furthermore, it is ensured that if the last date of use for the consumer product is exceeded after the product has been transferred to the machine, no further portions will be dosed.

  • Fig. 1 shows a machine 10 for the production of hot or cold beverages such as coffee, tea, juice etc. by the mixing of a powderized or fluid concentrate with hot or cold water. Behind the machine's cover 11 there are containers which hold the respective concentrates and a container with hot water. The machine 10 also has a connection for cold water.
  • the machine is microprocessor-controlled and has a keyboard 12 with which the user can select the desired drink, and for each selection of drink type the user also has the possibility of choosing a stronger or weaker concentration than the pre-programmed standard concentration. The user places a cup on the grid 13 and presses the desired key on the keyboard 12, after which the selected drink with the desired concentration is automatically poured into the cup.
  • Fig. 2 shows the packing 20 designed to contain a fluid or powderized concentrate for mixing with cold or hot water in the machine 10.
  • a card 21 of plastic, pasteboard or cardboard which bears a magnetic bar code 22 of known type.
  • the card 21 is shown placed on the outside of the packing 20, to which it can be glued. However, in certain cases in can be expedient to place the card 21 elsewhere, e.g. inside the packing 20.
  • the magnetically-coded bar 22 on the card 21 is coded with information concerning the type of concentrate in the packing, and a dosing recipe for the handling of the concentrate in the machine 10.
  • This dosing recipe comprises information concerning how large an amount of concentrate shall be dosed per portion, whether the water to be used shall be hot or cold, and concerning which mixing process shall be used in the machine 10.
  • the concentrate For certain products, the concentrate must simply be mixed with water in order to be dissolved, while with concentrates for other types of beverages it is desirable to undertake a whisking to make the brewed product foamy. Information concerning this is coded into the magnetic bar 22.
  • the magnetic bar 22 contains information concerning the number of portions which are expected to be dosed from the contents of the packing.
  • the magnetically-coded bar 22 contains a last date of use for the contents of the packing.
  • the contents of the packing 20 must be poured into a not- shown stock container in the machine 10 behind the cover 11.
  • the machine also has an opening 14, and in connection with the pouring of the contents of the packing into the machine 10, the packing card 21 is inserted into the machine's opening 14.
  • the machine 10 there is a not- shown scanning unit of known type which is able to read the code on the magnetically-coded bar 22 on the card 21, and the information in the bar code is hereby transferred to a memory which is associated with the machine's microprocessor.
  • the machine is so arranged that the magnetically-coded information in the bar code 22 is hereafter deleted, and thus the card 21 cannot be used more than this one time.
  • the memory in the machine 10 contains the correct dosing recipe for the concentrate which has just been emptied into the machine from the packing 20.
  • the information concerning the number of portions of the relevant concentrate which are expected to be able to be dosed is stored in the machine, and hereafter the machine's microprocessor controls the function of the machine, so that it is able to dose this number of portions. It is not until this number of portions has been dosed that the product will be used up, and in order to ensure that the machine is not filled with products from an unauthorized supplier, the dosing recipe can be erased from the memory so that the machine effects a dosing which does not correspond to the recipe, and is therefore not optimal. Alternatively, the machine's dosing from the relevant container can be stopped completely.
  • the machine's microprocessor is provided with a clock and calendar, which in a known manner are arranged to be constantly updated with at least the current date.
  • the scanned data concerning the product's last date for use is compared with the current date, and if the product's last date for use has been exceeded, the machine is arranged in such a manner that the contents of the packing 20 will not be able to be dosed.
  • the last date for use has not been exceeded, it will thereafter be able to be handled and dosed by the machine, but it is then constantly checked whether the last date for use for the product which has been emptied into the machine has been exceeded. If this date is exceeded after the product has been emptied into the machine, further dosing will not be possible.

Abstract

Machine adaptée pour la distribution de doses d'un produit de consommation en fonction d'une recette de dosage prédéterminée. Le produit passe d'un emballage à un récipient d'alimentation situé dans la machine. L'emballage porte des informations codées que la machine peut lire et qui correspondent à la recette de dosage. Les informations lues permettent à la machine de débiter un nombre prédéterminé de doses. La machine peut également déterminer si le délai de consommation du produit est révolu.
