Description

The subject of the present invention is a tamper-evident capsule for compressed gas bottles, with a leak indicator. It is intended more particularly for compressed gas bottles for professional use equipped with taps with threaded or tapped fittings, but can be adapted to any container containing a gas or a liquid under pressure. The capsules used to date for compressed gas cylinders for professional use are simple thread protectors. Tamper-evident capsules have been produced for liquefied petroleum gas cylinders, but these devices cannot be adapted to compressed gas cylinders. This is usually plugs with thread requiring complex and costly installations for their Mise in place, or capsules require a tool for their removal and preventing the plug from being removed.
La figure 2 représente le dispositif vu selon la flèche A de la figure 1.The device according to the present invention eliminates all these drawbacks. Indeed, it makes it possible to produce a tamper-evident capsule for compressed gas bottles for professional use, this capsule being produced in one piece, which can be posed by simple pressure of the finger and can be removed without tools and which can receive an indicator of flight. It consists of a cup-shaped capsule covering the external threaded connection of the tap and comprising, first of all, one or more notches engaging in the threading of said connection, this or these notches being able to be released only by breaking the capsule following incipient fractures, thanks to a pulling ring secured to the capsule, then, lateral ears in an eccentric position allowing only one possibility of positioning and resting on the screwing square of the tap to prevent the capsule from being removed by unscrewing, finally, an optional piston forced into the gas outlet orifice. so that it is visibly driven out of the capsule in the event of a leak. In the accompanying drawings, given by way of non-limiting example of one of the embodiments of the subject of the invention: FIG. 1 shows the device in place on a tap for a cylinder of compressed gas. FIG. 2 represents the device seen according to arrow A in FIG. 1.
Figures 3, 4 and 5 are vertical axial sections along the arrows B-B of Figure 2, respectively showing the device before installation, after breakage for removal and, finally, equipped with the leak detector.
Figure 6 is an enlarged view of the leak detector. Figure 7 shows the device suitable for valves with internal thread connection.
The device, FIGS. 1 to 7, consists of a capsule 1 of dimensions suitable for enabling it to cover the external connection 21 of a ' tap 20 of a compressed gas bottle, formed of a cylindrical side wall 6 and of a bottom 7, and comprising on the one hand two lateral ears 2 located in the extension of said side wall, resting on the screwing square 22 of the tap 20 to prevent rotation of the capsule, and whose eccentric position does not allows only one possibility of establishment and, on the other hand, an extraction ring 3. The capsule is made of semi-rigid plastic material and is provided with breaking points 5 to 'its side wall 6, as well as one or more notches 4 which can engage in the threading or the tapping of the external connector 21 of the tap 20. The shape of these notches is such that the capsule 1 can easily be placed on the external connector 21, but that it is impossible to remove it without breaking the initi es of rupture 5. The ring 3, integral with the capsule 1 and fixed to the upper part of its side wall 6, makes it possible, by exerting a trac¬ tion along the arrow C in FIG. 4, to break the primers of rupture 5, which has the effect of disengaging the notches 4 from the thread of the connector 15 of the tap, and thus releasing the capsule which can then be removed, but cannot be reused. The bottom 7 of the capsule 1 projects beyond the side wall 6 of so as to form a collar 10 intended to allow the attachment of a marking label and to facilitate the handling of the capsule. In FIG. 5, one can see the capsule 1 equipped with a leak detector 11. This consists of a cylindrical body 12 sliding in a hole 8 provided in the center of the bottom 7 of the capsule, and of which the end located outside of the latter has a conical bulge 13 for inserting the detector in the hole 8 and preventing it from coming out. The other end of the leak detector 11 is provided with a double conical bulge formed, on the one hand, by a small cone 14 with a diameter slightly greater than that of the gas outlet orifice 22 of the tap 20, and being able to penetrate by force and in a leaktight manner thereon, on the other hand, of a large cone 15 resting on the bottom of the external connection 21 of said tap and preventing the detector from leaving the capsule. During the establishment of the capsule! ', The leak detector 11 is pressed into the hole. gas outlet 22, the conical bulge 13 flush with the outside of the capsule. In the event of a leak, the gas exerts on the small cone 14 a pressure driving the detector outwards until the large cone comes to press on the bottom 7 of the capsule and the cylindrical body is almost entirely removed from this last, visibly signaling the leak. A vent 9 "consisting of a hole made in the side wall 6 of the capsule allows the gas to escape without causing the latter to tear off.
Figure 7 shows an alternative embodiment for valves for compressed gas containers equipped with an external connection 21 with thread. While in the case of threading (Figures 3. 4 and 5), the notch (s) 4 are arranged on the inner surface of the side wall 6 of the capsule 1, for taps with - thread (Figure 7), the bottom 7 of the capsule comprises, on the side opposite to the extraction ring 3. a single tab 16 directed inwards and carrying at least one notch engaging in said tapping, the primers for ruptures 5 being located in such a way that their opening causes the lifting of the leg 16 by releasing the capsule 1. In this case, the lateral ears 2 have at their end an internal allowance taking place behind the bulge formed by the external connector 21 and improving the maintenance of the capsule. Thanks to its ease of use and in particular to the possibility of installation and removal without tools, thanks to its leak detector and its low cost price, the device which has just been described is particularly suitable for production of guarantee and safety capsules for compressed gas cylinders for professional use fitted with standard valves such as "neutral gases and fuels" or "fuels and acetylene" The positioning of the various constituent elements gives this device maximum useful effects which had not been obtained to date by similar devices.
