Abstract
The present invention refers to a device for locking in a released position the steering controls of motor vehicles. The device comprises a movable connector (1) fitted up between the top axle terminal (3) and the intermediate axle terminal (2) of the steering control. The movable connector (1) is controlled by a fork (7) activated by an ignition key or by an electronic device and comprises position sensors (4) interacting with sensors (18) inside a guiding tube (5). The whole device is protected by a shielded box (10) with a lock (19), and is fixed to the guiding tube (5) by means of a clamp.
Description
STEERING CONTROL RELEASING DEVICE
The present invention refers to a device for unlocking the steering controls of motor vehicles.
Its use as a safety device against motor vehicle robbery or larceny dispenses with the use of the traditional pedal, gear and steering wheel locks and alarms, as well as the devices for discontinuing the supply of fuel to the motor vehicle engine, wich are already overcome by the motor vehicle thieves.
It is, therefore, an efficient and innovative device that works when it is directly installed in the steering axle of a motor vehicle, which can be of any type.
When activated, the device of the present invention, unlike the existing ones on the technical status, whose just lock the steering wheel, works by releasing the top portion of the steering axle and therefore the steering wheel, allowing it to rotate freely towards both sides preventing the bottom portion of the axle from moving. Under this situation it becomes impossible to drive such car.
The steering control unlocking device, the subject of the present invention, can be well understood through the following description related to the enclosed drawings whose they represent:
- Figure 1 - side view, part of the section, of the device.
- Figure 2 - view of the device in exploded perspective, and of the motor vehicle steering axle in wich is fitted in.
According to the figures above mentioned it can be seen the device comprising of a sliding connector (1) which, when activated, connects the intermediate axle (2) to the terminal (3) of the top axle, allowing the motor vehicle to become controllable. The movable connector (1) is activated by the ignition key, mechanically or electronically, and it has in its body position sensors (4) that insure the connection to be always in the original position.
The movable connector (1) works in a longitudinal displacement, inside the guiding tube (5) of the column, never being disconnected from the referred intermediate axle (2), but being disconnected only from the terminal (3) on the top axle, leaving then, both the steering wheel set (6) and top terminal (3) completely free, thus becoming the motor vehicle to be absolutely impossible to drive. This movable connector (1) is activated by the position and movement fork (7) which works when controlled by the connector fork drive (8) activated by the ingnition key (9) or by an eletronic device.
The whole device is protected by a shielded box
(10) of the ignition system and activation of the movable connector (1); the box is attached to the guiding tube (5) by means of a fixing and shield clamp (11).
The other components shown in the figures are standard parts common of motor vehicle steering axle and they are shown only to provide a better understanding of how this device is fitted in the motor vehicle.
Thus, we have the top axle terminal (3) bearing (12), which has its end facetted (13), and where one end of the movable connector (1) is connected to; and the other end is connected to the top facetted end (14) of the intermediate axle (2), which has an intermediate bearing (16). On the bottom end of the referred intermediate axle (2) of the bottom axle set (15) is then fitted.
It has also to be noted that the guiding tube (5) has an opening (17) for assembling the position and movement fork (7), sensors (18) to guide the connection of the movable connector (1), as well as a lock (19) in the shielded box (10) for contact and activation of the device.
