Definitions

  • the present invention relates to an arrangement for fixating and positioning a display screen filter of the kind which includes a transparent sheet which is intended to be supported in front of a display screen.
  • the present invention provides a solution to this problem.
  • the invention thus relates to an arrangement for holding a screen filter adjacent the display screen of a terminal, operator console, television or like apparatus and for positioning the filter relative to the display screen, said filter comprising a transparent plate which is intended to be positioned in front of a display screen, between the screen and the viewer.
  • the filter fixating arrangement is particularly characterized by a fixating element which is fastened to the upper side of the apparatus which includes the display screen and which extends in the width or breadth dimension of said screen; a positioning element which is hinged to the fixating element and which pivots around a first pivot axis which extends in the width direction of the display screen; and by a filter attachment element which is hinged to said positioning element and pivotal around a second pivot axis which extends in said width direction substantially parallel with the first pivot axis, the arrangement being such as to enable a filter plate mounted on said attachment element to be raised and lowered relative to the display screen and swung outwardly and towards said screen.
  • FIG. 1 is a view of an inventive arrangement holding a filter plate
  • FIG. 2 is a schematic view of the arrangement shown in Figure 1, as seen frcm the left in said Figure;
  • FIG. 4 is a side view of a first embodiment of an inventive
  • - Figure 5 is a side view of a second emtodiment of an inventive arrangement, with a raisable and lowerable filter plate; and - Figure 6 illustrates a stiffening bar for attachment to the bottom edge of the filter plate, said bar being seen frcm the direction of its longitudinal axis.
  • Figure 1 illustrates a display screen filter 1 in the form of a transparent plate which is intended to be positioned in front of a terminal display screen, between the screen and the viewer.
  • a filter plate fixating and positioning arrangement 2 by means of which the filter is mounted on the terminal.
  • the arrangement 2 includes a fixating or securing element 3 which is intended to be attached to the upper side of the terminal (not shown) and extends in the width direction of the screen, a filter positioning element 4 which is hinged to the fixating element and which can be swung about a first pivot axis 5 ( Figures 2 and 3) extending in the width direction of the screen, said positioning element also extending in said width direction, and a filter attachment element 6 which extends in said width direction and which is hinged to the positioning element 4 such as to be pivotal about a second pivot axis 7 which extends in said width direction substantially parallel with the first pivot axis 5, thereby enabling a filter plate attached to said attachment element to be raised and lowered relative to the screen and to be swung away from and towards said screen.
  • a fixating or securing element 3 which is intended to be attached to the upper side of the terminal (not shown) and extends in the width direction of the screen
  • a filter positioning element 4 which is hinged to the fixating element and which can
  • the hinge 8 ( Figures 2 and 3) includes between respective elements 3, 4, 6 a first hinge part 9 which is mounted on the one element and which has a substantially cylindrical internal configuration 10, and a second hinge part 11 which is mounted on the other element and which has a substantially cylindrical internal configuration 12, this second hinge part 11 being rotatably journalled in the first hinge part 9.
  • the hinge parts are slotted in their axial directions.
  • the element on which the second hinge part 11 is mounted projects out into the axial slot 13 of the first hinge part 9.
  • the extent to which the hinge parts 9, 11 can be pivoted relative to one another is defined by the mutual coaction of the outwardly projecting element and the edges 14, 15 of the slot 13 in the second hinge part, as illustrated in Figure 3, for example.
  • the slotted part 16 of the second hinge part 11 is located within the imperforate or non-slotted part of the first hinge part, as illustrated in Figure 3, for example.
  • the hinge 8 between the fixating element 3 and the positioning element 4 can be adjusted to any one of a number of fixed positions by means of a fixating bar 17 which projects from the external cylindrical portion 12 of the second hinge portion 11 and which coacts lockingly with one of a number of grooves 18 disposed around the circumference of the internal cylindrical part 10 of the first hinge part 9.
  • the rotational position of the hinge 8 is changed by axially separating the first and the second hinge parts, rotating said parts in relation to one another, and bringing said parts together in an axial direction.
  • a first hinge part 9 is mounted on the fixating element 3
  • a first hinge part 9 and a second hinge part 11 are mounted on the positioning element 4
  • a second hinge part 11 is mounted on the attachment element 6.
  • the fixating element 3 has a substantially plate-like form on that side of its part 1 belonging to the hinge, and extends in the width direction of the display screen transversely to the direction of the hinge axis 5, and that the hinge parts 9, 11 of the positioning element 4 are also essentially in the form of a plate between their respective two ends and extend in the width direction of the screen, transversely to a respective hinge axis 5, 7, and that the part of the attachment element 6 located adjacent the hinge is also in the form of a plate which extends in the width direction of the display screen and transversely to the hinge axis.
  • respective elements 3, 4, 6 together with respective hinge parts 9, 10 are formed integrally with one another and preferably formed by extrusion.
  • a suitable material in this respect is aluminium, although other materials, such as plastic materials, are also conceivable.
  • the hinge between the positioning element 4 and the attachment element 6 has a first hinge part 9 in which there is provided an axially extending slot 13 which has an extension and a circumferential position such as to enable the filter plate 1 to be raised from a position in front of the screen to a position in which the screen is completely uncovered or exposed.
  • the axial slot 13 of the first element part has different positions around the periphery of the first part along said element, as shown in Figures 4 and 5, wherein the element part which extends cut from the second hinge part has preferably communicating positions around the circumference of the second part.
  • the arrangement preferably has a length corresponding to a substantial part, such as 30% or more, of the width of the filter plate.
  • the filter plate 1 is angled away at its bottom in a manner to form a stiffening lip 19.
  • a flat plate 1 can be stiffened with the aid of a stiffening element 20 in accordance with the Figure 6 illustration.
  • a closure plug 21 is fitted to one end part of respective hinges, among other things to prevent relative axial movement of the elements.
  • the filter plate can be raised and lowered relative to the fixating element, and therewith also relative to the display screen, by means of the hinge 8 located between the fixating element and the positioning element.
  • the hinge provided between the positioning element 4 and the attechment element 6 enables the angle at which the filter plate is inclined to be adjusted so that the plate will conform to the angle of the screen.
  • the hinge provided between the postioning element and the attachment element enables the filter plate to be swung towards and into aixitment with said screen, with the filter plate angled to some extent.
  • hinge parts 9, 11 of at least the hinge provided between the positioning element and the attachment element are slotted and slightly springy and fit relatively closely together, such that the hinge parts will be held in a given mutual position on the periphery of the hinge parts by friction.
  • the fixating element 3 is fastened to the apparatus which includes the display screen by means of a so-called burr fastener or a self-gripping device, or in seme other appropriate manner.
  • the invention is not solely applicable to display screen terminals, but may also be applied to televisions and like apparatus.
