Abstract

Appareil à compter les pièces de monnaie (1) de tailles et/ou formes différentes. L'appareil (1) comprend une rangée linéaire (13) de photo-détecteurs discrets (14) qui s'étendent transversalement par rapport à la trajectoire d'une pièce (12) qui est munie d'un élément de guidage (15) sur l'un de ses côtés. Les détecteurs (14) sont espacés selon différents écarts prédéterminés par rapport à l'élément de guidage (15). Face à la rangée de détecteurs (13) se trouve une source lumineuse (20), de telle sorte que lorsqu'une pièce (10) passe le long de la trajectoire (12), elle coupe le trajet de la lumière (19) entre la source lumineuse (20) et un ou plusieurs des détecteurs (14). Ladite rangée (13) est reliée à un circuit électrique comprenant un ordinateur (P) qui reçoit les signaux de sortie provenant des détecteurs (14) et indiquant l'obscurcissement ou autre indice de ceux-ci provoqué par le passage des pièces individuelles (10), et cela à des intervalles de temps périodiques qui sont sensiblement plus courts que le temps de passage d'une pièce (10). L'ordinateur (P) est conçu pour comparer la lecture du profil d'une pièce (10), défini par une séquence de tels signaux correspondant au passage d'une pièce unique (10), avec une pluralité de lecture de profils de pièces correspondant aux différentes pièces (10) et qui sont stockées dans une mémoire (M) reliée à l'ordinateur (P), permettant ainsi d'identifier ladite pièce et de compléter le registre (R) contenant le nombre total de pièces (10) du même type. L'ordinateur (P) peut ensuite sortir sur un dispositif au moins l'un des nombres totaux de chaque type de pièce du tas, ainsi que la valeur totale des différentes pièces, calculée en multipliant les nombres totaux par la valeur respective du type de pièce.
