Abstract
A magnetic field generating assembly comprises two pairs of first coils (1, 2; 3, 4) lying on arms (5, 6) of a first V. Two pairs of second electrical coils (7, 8; 9, 10) are provided about respective second axes (11, 12) defining arms of a second V, the arms of the second V being non-coincident with those of the first V. The respective sets of first and second coils lie on opposite sides of a plane (15). The inner coils of each pair (1-4) generate magnetic fields in the opposite sense to the outer coils of the respective pairs (7-10).
