Abstract

To prevent surges in the power absorbed by an electric appliance, in particular an ohmic resistance heating appliance (1), the mains voltage (U1) is stepped down by an adjustable electronic transformer (2) to the voltage (U2) applied to the appliance. A cuircuit (10) for controlling the transformer is provided with a temperature probe (14) and a manual selector (11). The device makes it possible to avoid power peaks and to maintain a fluid such as the air in a building, a heat-transfer liquid, a chemical or biological preparation, at a very stable temperature.
