Abstract

Un système de localisation d'appareils de transports aériens comporte plusieurs stations d'appoint au sol (10) et au moins un satellite (8) servant à recevoir des émissions codées depuis un émetteur radio placé à bord de l'appareil (2) d'un utilisateur. Le satellite (8) transmet les signaux reçus directement par l'utilisateur et les signaux relayés par les stations d'appoint au sol (10) vers une station de base (14), où un ordinateur (88) calcule la position de l'utilisateur sur la base de la différence de temps entre le temps d'arrivée des signaux. L'utilisation des stations d'appoint au sol (10), placées dans toute la zone dans laquelle l'utilisateur doit être localisé, assure une perte de précision géométrique moindre par rapport à un système n'utilisant que des satellites ou n'utilisant que des stations de base au sol et, en combinaison avec l'émetteur de conception relativement simple (44) placé à bord de l'appareil (2) et avec les répondeurs des stations d'appoint au sol (10) et du satellite (8), permet de réduire sensiblement le coût de déploiement d'un tel système.
