Abstract

A pair of tweezers is formed by a pair of metal arms (1) held by a head unit (2). The head unit incorporates an electrical circuit comprising a battery (3), a light bulb (4) and a switch (5) operated by sliding a button (6). Upon operation of the switch, light will be projected from the head unit (2) of the tweezers down towards the tips of the tweezer arms (1) to provide adequate lighting for operation of the tweezers by the user.

Description

"Improvements relating to Tweezers"
Difficulties are experienced by users of tweezers when plucking eyebrows or carrying out similar operations since lighting of the subject may be poor and the user's hand may create shadows. It is an object of this invention to alleviate this difficulty.
Accordingly this invention provides a pair of tweezers having a pair of gripping arms projecting from a head unit, the head unit incorporating electrical circuitry for powering a light source so positioned on the tweezers as to project light towards the tips of the arms upon operation of a switch forming part of the circuitry.
Thus as the tweezers are used light is played directly onto and at a short distance from the region being operated upon.
It is preferred that the switch should be a pressure responsive switch, which ideally will be closed by a sliding operating member during use, so that it will remain in the on position until it is positively removed therefrom. The light source is ideally a light bulb protectively housed within the head unit to project light through an opening in the head unit.
The head unit is ideally formed from a plastics material moulded about and incorporating the ends of the arms remote from the tips thereof.
The invention may be performed in various ways and a preferred embodiment thereof will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:—
Figure 1 is a cross-sectional view through a tweezer unit of the invention and
Figure 2 is a plan view of the unit shown in Figure 1. The tweezer unit shown in the drawings comprises a conventional pair of metal tweezer arms 1 but with the head ends thereof embedded within a head unit 2» This head unit incorporates an electrical circuit powered by a battery 3 and including a light bulb 4 and a pressure switch 5. The pressure switch 5 is connected to one of the terminals of the bulb 4 and is actuated by sliding a button 6 on the exterior of the head unit 2 into the switch-closing position. From the battery 3 a connecting strip 7 extends to grip around a casing portion 8 for the light bulb which comprises the other of the terminals of the bulb. The light bulb 4 projects partially out through an opening 9 in the head unit 2 so as to direct its light towards the tips of the tweezer arms 1.

Claims
