Abstract
Auxiliary apparatus for measurements and photogrammetry characterized by constituting an assembly formed by a basic structure (1), rectangular or square, which supports fixed or adjustable panels (2), where metric scales (4) are mounted, forming a frame where the model fits in and, with the help of one or more plumbs (5), establishes the coordinates for the interpretation of measures registered visual observation, photography, cinematography, video-tape. Positioned in the base of apparatus, however isolated from the assembly of the basic structure (1) and scales (4), a platform (6), with graphic signs on the ground, establishes the position of the model. The horizontal line, formed by the levelled platform ground, determines the zero position of the vertical scales.
Description
Auxiliary apparatus for measurement and photo- grammetry
The present invention refers to an apparatus to be used for anthropometric, zoometric, postural measurement analysis and for measurements of objects based on visual observation, photografic, cinematographic or video recording. Seapparatus is designed as a set of two horizontal and two vertical metric scales mounted on fixed or adjustable panels which frame it. One or more plumb lines may be used establishing coordinate axes for better interpretation of the measurement recordings. The apparatus is a helpful instrument for professionals in medicine, engineering, zoology, gymnastics, archeology or other activities which make use for measurements analysis of static models for studying motion and work.
The apparatus can be dimensioned and built according to specific aplications.
The apparatus is essentially a basic rectangular or square structure (1) built with industrial tubings, aluminum profiles and other kinds of materials.
The basic structure suport steel, iron, aluminum or wood plates on which metric scales (2) are fixed. The assembly formed by the structure and panels containing the scales is sustained by a horizontal base (3) whose level can be adjusted by means of four positioning shoes. A horizontal and a vertical fixed panel supporting the metric scales are converted to the basic structure establishing an x,y cartesian, one horizontal and one vertical, both provided with metric scales can be adjustable to the dimensions of the mensurand. The apparatus can be built with two vertical and one horizontal fixed scale and adjustable horizontal scale which can be positioned according to the mensurand heigth. The horizontal and the vertical panels are superposed and the displacement of the movable panel is done on aluminum or metal rails which are fixed on the basic structure.
The metric scales are provided with line segments and numbers are dimensioned in such a way as to give a perfect photography. They are printed on formica, plastic, aluminum or metal strips. (4) Projecting from the top of the basic structure, one or more fixed ordispl'aceable metal rods sustain plumb lines (5) keeping them apart of the apparatus.
Over the inferior metric scale, supported on the floor by means of adjustable shoes, an auxiliary platform provided with reference axes is located. (6) This auxiliary platform is intended to correctly position the mensurand in the apparatus. The platform can be dimensioned and correctly adapted according to any specific application to be given to the apparatus. The top of the platform establishes the zero of the vertical scales.
The zero indicator of the horizontal scales will be located on the middle line of the apparatus, dividing its width into two equal parts and will be coincident with the projection of the plumb line. Otherwise, the zero indicator can be located on extremity of the scale.
The axes formed by the plumb(s) line and the metric scales establish a coordinate system which is important for correct measurement analysis. In order to achieve a better photographyc object contour definition, a withe infinitive back behind the apparatus must be used.
For measurement recordings, photographyc, cinematographic or video-tape cameras may be used. The camera must be positioned in front of the apparatus centralized in relation to the scale assembly with its optic axis levelled at middle height of the apparatus or else at the middle height of the measurand.
Reflectors, incandescent bulbs or eletronics flashes will be used for suitable illumination. T e recorded measures are reliable since the actual scales as well as mensurand are reproduced in the same proportion at any degree of amplification given by the recording system used (photo, cine or TV) .
A sequential numeric display located on one of the vertical panels is used to identify the mensurand. (7) A 45 mirror surface can be placed over the top and above the movable horizontal scale, reflecting the mensurand horizontal plane dimensions.
