Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a carrying system, preferably for rucksacks, including at least two carrying straps attached to the upper and lower portions of the rucksack, and intended to bear against, and extend over the shoulders and chest of a wearer for positioning the rucksack against the back of the wearer.
  • the rucksacks so far available on the market are usually provided with leather or -fabric straps for positioning the rucksack against the back of the wearer.
  • these straps are provided with different types of bearing pads. These pads have indeed relieved the cutting-in of the straps, but in spite of these measures there has been no solution to the problem of chafing under the arms of the wearer, and this chafing can be very irritating.
  • each strap extends in a curved configuration in over the chest of the wearer such that at the shoulder portion the straps extend mutually parallel as far as the upper portion of the chest, and then, preferably after a small curve towards each other, they curve sideways to their respective attachment points at the lower exterior portions of the rucksack, and in that each strap is provided with at least one thong extending through a plurality of eyelets or holes arranged along the strap, at least at its middle section, it being possible to pull out the thong into a loop at an optional height between two eyelets, and to a desired length for lockable coaction by a connection means with a loop formation on a thong arranged in a corresponding way on the other strap, for positionally fixing the positions of the straps in mutual relation on the chest of the wearer.
  • Fig. 1 illustrates a carrying system in accordance with the present invention, seen in a perspective view to one side from behind, and Fig. 2 illustrates the rucksack of Fig. 1 in a perspective view to one side from the front.
  • the rucksack 1 includes two straps 2, 3 extending from, and being attached to, the upper portion 4 and to the respective exterior lower portions 4 , 5 to which they are also attached.
  • a hip belt 7 with a quick-release fastener 8 is also attached to the portions 5 , 6 and is intended to be fastened round the waist of the wearer.
  • the straps 2, 3 each have a curved configuration 9 at approximately half the height of the rucksack such that when the rucksack is worn the straps 2, 3 first extend mutually parallel over the shoulders of the wearer as far as the upper portion of the chest, and then, preferably after a further small inward curvature 10 towards each other, they diverge sideways in a curve to their attachment points at the lower exterior portions 5 and 6 of the rucksack.
  • these straps have a plurality of eyelets or holes 11 in the longitudinal direction of each strap, at least at its middle section, for accommodating a thong 12, which may be pulled out between two consecutive holes 11 at an optional height into a loop configuration 13 to the desired length.
  • the thong 12 is locked by a knot 16 at one of the outer, upper or lower holes 11 and the free end 17 of the thong 12 can run freely through the other outer hole 11.
  • the length of the thong 12 is determined by a displaceably arranged clamping device 18 which, when the thong 12 is pulled out between two consecutive holes 11, comes into engagement with one of the outer holes 11.
  • the loop which can be pulled out from the strap 2 is lockable by a connection device 14 to a corresponding loop 15, which can be pulled o ⁇ ut from the thong on the other strap 3.
  • the connection device 14 comprises .a snap hook 19, or the like, attached movably to the loop 13 and hookable on to the loop 15 on the other thong 12. If it is desired to position the straps 2, 3 closer to each other, it is only necessary to pull the free ends of the thongs 12 and move the clamping device 18 towards the outer holes 11 for the loops 13 and 15 to be smaller and the distance between the straps shorter.
