Definitions

  • the invention relates to an aerator for introducing air or another gas into a liquid by means of a propeller, the aerator being immersed in the liquid.
  • aerators of the described type possess the disadvantage of not being able to provide good and even aeration of the liquid contents of a large vessel, although they provide good aeration in the area near the aerator.
  • the known aerators are often complex and thus expen ⁇ sive being equipped with guide plates and ducts or the like to ensure distribution of the aerated liquid in the vessel.
  • the object of the present invention is to provide an aerator which is simple as well as inexpensive, and which will ensure efficient aeration of the liquid in a tank or vessel considerably larger than the aerator.
  • OMPI and in that one or several air intake openings are formed in the wall of the nozzle.
  • the Venturi nozzle ensures that the air is added to a limited quantity of liquid to achieve a strong aeration.
  • the air will be swept along by the liquid flow, whereby further aeration will take place in the area of the propeller.
  • an expedient effect on the direction of the flow will moreover be achieved, and hence the aerated liquid will be distributed evenly in the whole of the vessel and will not immediately be sucked back into the nozzle.
  • Good liquid circulation in a sewage tank may be achieved if the propeller, as dealt with in claim 4, has a horizontal longitudinal axis, and a very efficient aerator is attained if the rear edge of the propeller and the Venturi nozzle are adjacent, as dealt with in claim 5. Hereby the propeller will cause further aeration to take place without air bobbles escaping between the propeller and the nozzle. If the aerator, as dealt with in claim 6, is mounted for vertically sliding movement in the treatment vessel, it is achieved that the aerator may be placed in relation to the level of the liquid in order to facilitate good circulation.
  • the aerator is pivotal, as dealt with in claim 7, it can be adjusted to attain even better circulation in the vessel.
  • An aerator according to the invention may be charac ⁇ terized by the rod mentioned in claim 8, along which the propeller, the Venturi nozzle and the driving means can be moved by means of a tubular part.
  • the desired opportunity of turning the aerator is achieved in a simple and inexpensive manner.
  • fig. 1 shows an aerator according to the inven ⁇ tion, shown in part-section,
  • fig. 2 shows an aerator placed in a treatment vessel
  • fig. 3 shows a section through the vessel in fig. 2 seen in the direction of
  • fig. 4 shows another embodiment of an aerator.
  • Fig. 1 shows an aerator according to the invention. This consists of a motor 1 enclosed in order to sustain immersion, which motor may be an electromo ⁇ tor. On the outlet shaft 6 of the motor 1 a propeller 4 is fastened with screws, which propeller can be rotated by means of the motor 1.
  • Venturi nozzle 2 or Venturi screen is mounted by means of four straps 3.
  • the illustrated propeller is four bladed, but other types may be applied.
  • Figs. 2 and 3 show how the aerator according to the invention can be placed in a treatment vessel 7 filled with the liquid 12 to be aerated.
  • a vertical, circular rod 8 is secured surrounded by a tubular part 11, to which the motor 1 is attached.
  • the motor 1 By means of a string 9 attached to the motor 1 and a winch 10 the motor can be raised and lowered.
  • the motor 1 can be placed at a height where it is in the middle between the liquid surface and the bottom of the vessel 7.
  • the rod 8 and the tubular part 11 having circular cross sections the motor 1 can also be pivoted. By letting the motor 1 point out towards one of the sides of the vessel 7, efficient circulation in said vessel is achieved. Alternatively, the aerator may swing automatically between two extreme positions.
  • Fig. 4 shows another embodiment of an aerator accord- ing to the invention.
  • the air intake openings 5 are formed right behind the propel ⁇ ler 4, said propeller creating the largest vacuum in this area when rotated.
  • a very good suction capacity is achieved in order that the aerator can be operated at considerable depths.
  • the aerator according to the invention can be applied for aerating all types of gases in all types of liquids.
  • the propeller and the nozzle can be applied even in the case of thick or lumpy liquids such as sludge, provided that the propeller and the nozzle are designed to serve this purpose.
  • the treatment vessel can be designed in various ways but a round or elliptic vessel will enable even circulation to take place in the vessel.
  • the propeller and nozzle can be produced of a plastic to answer the purpose.
  • an aerator is achieved which is of a very simple construction and hence inexpensive to produce.
  • O PI aerator according to the invention is described in an operating position where the axis of the propeller is horizontal, the aerator may of course be applied in any position.
  • Venturi nozzle can be extended in order that its front portion can surround the propel ⁇ ler expediently placed right in front of the narrow ⁇ ing of the nozzle.
  • the propeller, the Venturi nozzle and the air intake opening should be dimensioned to the prevailing motor output, operation depth and consistency of the liquid.
