Abstract
Method for intermixing plastic fibres in a concrete mass through a pre-moistening of the plastic fibres before these are added to the concrete mixture. Such method causes an easy and even dispersion of the plastic fibres which facilitates the depositing and increases the product quality.
Description
PRE-MOISTENING PLASTIC FIBRES FOR CONCRETE
The invention relates to a method for intermixing plastic fibres in concrete through pre-moistening said plastic fibres.
For a number of years the use of plastic fibres, such as krenit, polya ide and others for reinforcing con¬ crete has been hampered since these during inter¬ mixing tend to position themselves on top of the aggregate concrete mass as a kind of floating layer and/or to tangle in fibre nests during mixing.
Therefore, it has not been possible sufficiently quickly and conveniently to add plastic fibres to concrete using traditional mixing equipment in the form of for instance gravity batch mixers.
During the last 2-3 years intensive experiments in this field have among other things been carried on at Danmarks Tekniske Højskole (The Technical University of Denmark) and at Perstrup Beton-Inaustri ApS and"" others.
The method according to the invention consists in moistening the fibres for instance in the amount of liquid weighed for the concrete mixture, v/ith the result that the plastic fibres can be nixed in the concrete without the above problems in the form of floating layers and fiber nests. At the same time, it is possible to reduce the consumption of water, super plastifying additives and air-entraining liquids which is of crucial importance to the strength of the finished concrete.

Furthermore, by using the above pre-moistening tech¬ nique as regards the plastic fibres it is possible to intermix far greater amounts of plastic fibres in the concrete than ordinarily, especially if these are moistened in a mixture of water and super plastifier, whereby due to the resulting influence the fibres are easily dispersed in the concrete mass.
