Definitions

  • Sealing device at at least one path providing a gas through- flow passage.
  • the present invention relates to a sealing device at at least one path providing a gas through-flow passage, said path having a longitudinal slit via which at least one gas passage unit movable along the path communicates with the gas through-flow passage, whereby said path has longitudinal sealing strips closing the slit and sealingly engaging the gas through-flow passage, whereby the path providing the gas through-flow passage is transformed into another path without a gas through-flow passage and comprises a sealing device for closing said gas through-flow passage.
  • the object of the present invention is to provide at sealing devices of the above type by utterly simple means the required good sealing property and durability. This is arrived at according to the invention be means of the sea ⁇ ling device defined in the characterizing portion of the following claim 1.
  • fig. 1 with a side view illustrates a path with a sea ⁇ ling device according to the invention
  • fig. 2 illustrates with a side view a path with a sea ⁇ ling device according to the invention in a larger scale
  • fig. 3 is a section along the line III-III in fig. 2
  • fig. 4 is a section along the line IV-IV in fig
  • 2 fig. 5 is a section along the line V-V in fig. 2
  • fig. 6 is a view VI-VI in fig. 2
  • fig. 7 illustrates the sealing device according to the invention while a gas passage unit is separating it; fig.
  • Fig. 1 illustrates a path 2 providing a gas through-flow passage 1 and comprising upper rods 3, which via retainers 4 are hung under a roof 5.
  • Elongated profiles 6 and 7 are moun ⁇ ted down below on the rods 3 and lie opposite each other (se fig. 8) defining a slit 8.
  • This slit 8 is closed by means of two sealing strips 9 and 10 which engage each other down below.
  • a gas passage unit 11 in the form of a carriage is jour- nalled on the path 2 and via a traversing wheel arrangement 12 suspended on the rod 3.
  • the gas passage unit 11 has an upper separating portion 13 which is elongated, tapers from the centre in both directions and protrudes in between the sealing strips 9, 10 such that said strips are brought apart by the separating portion when the gas passage unit 11 pas ⁇ ses when they sealingly engage the outer surface of the separating portion 13.
  • the separating portion 13 also de- fines a pipe via which the gas passage unit 11 communicates with the passage 1.
  • a hose 14 which e.g. is connected to the ex ⁇ haust pipe 15 on a car 16 if the system shall be used as an exhaust gas suction system e.g. in car workshops. The exhaus gases will then be sucked out via the hose 14 and gas passag unit 11 to the passage 1 and therefrom to a conduit(not show for removing the gases from the workshop.
  • the path 2 defining the gas through-flow passage 1 is transformed into a path 17 without a gas through-flow passag and this path is defined simply by the rod 3 continues while the profiles 6, 7 and sealing strips 9, 10 stop.
  • the sealing device 19 comprises sealing means 20, 21, which are connected to the sealing strips 9, 10, which extend out from the path 2 providing the gas throu flow passage 1 and along the path 17 without a gas through- flow passage and which engage each other but comprise gra ⁇ dually diverging parts 22, 23 in order to provide a separa ⁇ ting portion 24 in which the gas passage unit 11 may slide i between the sealing means for separating said means.
  • the sealing means 20, 21 preferably comprises end por ⁇ tions of the sealing strips 9, 10 which end portions are ex ⁇ tended beyond the end portion 18 of the path 2 providing the gas through-flow passage 1, whereby the free outer ends 22, 23 of the end portions are folded upwards such that lower corner portions 25, 26 are positioned at a retaining means 27 at which they are mounted.
  • the sealing means 20, 21 with upper edge portions 28 , 29 thereof extend in between down ⁇ wardly directed flanges 30, 31 of the retaining means 27, whereby the corner portions 25, 26 with the inner surfaces thereof engage the outer surfaces of the flanges and are mounted via at least one retaining element 32 extending through the retaining means and the sealing means.
  • the retaining means 27 comprises a bracket arranged at the end portion 18 of the path 2 providing the gas through flow passage 1 and projecting out from said end portion in an upwardly inclining direction.
  • the bracket 27 defines an end wall 33 to the path 2 providing the gas through-flow passage 1 for closing said passage, whereby the member 34 of the bracket 27 holding the sealing means 20, 21 is protruding resiliently from said end wall.
  • the member 34 of the bracket 27 holding the sealing means 20, 21 is tapering in a direc ⁇ tion from the end wall 33 and the flanges 30, 31 thereof pro ⁇ vide stiffeners and at the same time engaging portions for the sealing means .
  • this arrangement provides a separating portion 24 with a very suitable shape and the sealing means 20, 21 are retained in this portion by means of the bracket 27 and, when present, by the negative pressure in the passage 1.
  • the bracket 27 r.ay be provi ⁇ ded with downwardly directed portions 35, 36 for defining recesses into which the sealing means 20, 21 protrude.
  • the sealing means 20, 21 may be made of or include rubber mate ⁇ rial and the bracket may be made of plating and fastened with screws in a suitable way.
  • the path arrangement may of course be used for other applications then car workshops for sucking out exhaust gases.
