Abstract

Se describen composiciones y métodos relacionados con levaduras modificadas que albergan alelos del activador de transcripción constitutivo MAL. La levadura produce una mayor cantidad de etanol, o tiene una tasa incrementada de producción de etanol, que no parece ser el resultado del metabolismo de la maltosa. Dicha levadura es particularmente útil para la producción de etanol utilizando sustratos de almidón.
