Abstract

Cuando un abonado llama a su Proveedor de servicios de Internet (ISP), una oficina central que recibe la llamada se dispara para realizar una consulta sobre Portabilidad de numero local (LNP). Esta consulta sobre LNP se envia a una Unidad de Encaminamiento y control de trafico inteligente (INTRAC) residente en un punto de control de servicios (SCP) que determina si la llamada es a un ISP: si lo es, la unidad INTRAC consulta a un servidor de Servicio para usuarios de discado con autorizacion remota (RADIUS) para determinar si hay recursos disponibles. El servidor RADIUS rastrea los recursos del ISP y de los demas ISP e informa al SCP acerca de los recursos disponibles. El SCP entonces inserta el Numero de encaminamiento local (LRN) del recurso preferido en una respuesta que se envia a la oficina central. Si no hay recursos disponibles, se da por terminada la llamada antes de que se produzca la senalizacion con cualquier central asociada con el ISP. Por el contrario, cuando hay recursos disponibles, el abonado se puede dirigir al recurso preferido para el. El abonado, por ejemplo, se puede dirigir a un servidor de acceso dentro del ISP que tenga exceso de capacidad o a un servidor de acceso que provea el mejor servicio para el, por lo cual los abonados se pueden dirigir al servicio tipo X2, si tienen modem X2, o al servicio tipo K56Flex, si tienen un modem K56Flex. Como otro ejemplo, si un ISP esta en el maximo de su capacidad, el abonado se puede dirigir a un segundo ISP de respaldo.
