VMy improvement consists'ln the mode of constructing or forming-cast-iron wo'rkto conneet wire, rods, or other parts of 'metallic fences, railings," or otherv articles wherever available.
Thefencecr railing isconstructed in any known or convenient form, .that made of wrought-iron bars similarto those shown in vmy patent of March', 1847, however, is preferred. of any desirable pattern vandthe ornaments especially adaptedl to the purpose are cast' upon it. The fence or 4other article may beV durable, and highly-ornamental structure at a much less cost per foot than a plain wroughtiron fence of Ordin-ary construction.
It will be understood that ,the parts ot wrought-iron are put together, the' iron molds a 11(see Fig. 3,) or molds of any other form to suit the position or character ot' ornament or connection, are put together, and the melted iron poured. in, which immediately cools o1 eonsolidates so that themolds vcan be removed. To form a picket one or more of the wires are left projeetin g above the top rail, and the picket is castupon them, which fastens the.` parts perfectly.
