To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, WLLLIAM R. GARDNER, of' Leonardsvilie, in the county of Madison and Stute oi New York, have invented an Improvement in yPessm'ies; :nul the following is docile-red to be noorrect My improved pessfn'y is made` with :tu opening at one end, with two thu-ing lips of :ibottomless cup for the reception of the posterior und anterior surfaces of tho lips und neck of thc uterus, and at the other end the pessnry is curved to rest upon tbe pubic bone.

Tojitcilitate the insertion oi' the pesszny the cup is made in two parts, hinged together, so ns to be closed as the instrument is inserted.v

antiiiexiou, retroversionpretroexion and `prolapsns ofthe uterus.

In pessziries made with the flaring lips a. h there are notches or depressions between said lips, so' thatithc pessnry will not be liable to become displaced beqense,y the neck of the uterus spreads into tbesespaces.

I claim as m'y iuvention- 1. .'lhe pessnry, made with the lips c amid 'and intermediate notches upon a bottomless cup, for receive ing the lips and neck of the uterus, in combination with the curved end b for resting upon the pubic bone,

` substantially as specified.

2. The lips c and d of the bottomless cup, united by the hinge i, in combination with .tbe frame a b, substantielly as and for the purposes set forth.
