Abstract

A floribunda rose variety having an upright plant, blooms borne either in clusters or one per stem, consistent yellow orange flower color, slight fragrance, strong foliage, flat open flower form, and good resistance to rose powdery mildew and rose blackspot disease.

Description

This present invention relates to a new and distinct variety of rose plant of the floribunda class which was originated by me by crossing an unnamed variety with an unnamed variety.
The primary objective of this breeding was to produce a new rose variety of the floribunda class, bearing large blooms of a deep yellow color on an upright, relatively disease resistant plant.
This objective was substantially achieved along with other desirable improvements as evidenced by the following unique combination of characteristics which are outstanding in the new variety and which distinguish it from its parents as well as from all other varieties of which I am aware:
1. A vigorous, upright plant.
2. Blooms borne in clusters as well as one per stem.
3. Consistent flower color of yellow orange fading very little after three days.
4. Slight fragrance.
5. Good resistance to rose powdery mildew and rose blackspot diseases.
6. Strong leathery foliage.
7. Quite flat open flower form with some undulation of petal edges.
Asexual reproduction of this new variety by budding, as performed at Wasco, Calif., shows that the foregoing characteristics and distinctions come true to form and are established and transmitted through succeeding propagations.
The accompanying illustration shows typical specimens of the vegetative growth and flowers of this new variety in different stages of development, depicted in color as nearly true as it is reasonably possible to make the same in a color illustration of this character.
The following is a detailed description of my new rose cultivar with color in terminology in accordance with The Royal Horticultural Society Colour Chart except where ordinary dictionary significance of color is indicated.
