'I'he present invention relates to a. new and distinct variety of rosa plant adapted particularly to serve as a bedding rose for mass planting because of its extraordinary brilliance of color and. its habit of compact growth.
'I'he primary features of this new rose, produced by the orossing of the two we11 known varieties Chas. P. Kilham and Mrs. Pierre S. du Pon reside in the novelty 01 its color and the extremely prolific flowering habit.
In co1or, this rose is a. cheerful orange fiame in the bud, gradually moving t coral and finishing cora1 with a suffusion of sehnen, the informal arrangement of the petals adding materially so the distinction and gay appearance.
'I'he fiowering habit of my new variety is in tenure with the co1ora continuous producer which gives to ehe garden an interrupted note of pleasing, exhilarating co1or.
'I'he plant is medium dwarf and compaot, putting its energy into flowers instead of wood.
Asexual reproduction proves the foregoing characteristics 130 be permanently fixed.
'I'he following is a detailed description of this new variety:
Parentage:
Seedling.
Seed parent.-Chas. P. Kilham.
Pollen parent.-Mrs. Pierre S. du Pont. Classificationz Botanic.Pernetiana Hybrid.
CommerciaL-Hybrid Tea.
Flower Blooming habit: Continuous.
Other habit: Tremendously floriferous. Bud:
Size.-Large.
Form.-Long pointed. Unaffected by wet and hot weather.
Color.(Gravereaux c010r system.) When sepals first divideorange scarlet. When petals begin to unfurlorange flamme. When half blown: inside of petals orange flame reverse of petals orange flame with ye11ow suflusion.
Sepals.Smooth edged or branched; curl back when b1oom is. half open.
Calyx.Shape-pear. Size-small. Aspect smooth. Odor when rubbednone.
Peduncle.Lengthmedium.
Aspect.Smooth.
Strength.-Erect, weak, slender.
Opening.-Bud opens wel1. Unafiected. by adverse conditions.
Bloom:
Si2e.-Large. Average size when fu1ly expanded. 4".

Color.Center of flower orange fiame. Guter petals slightly paler tha.n center; base of petals (aiglet) yellow; inside of peta1s orange flame; reverse 013 peta1s orange coral; genera1 tonality from a distance orange flamme.
