UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE,
PETER ROSENBAOH', OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
DESIGN FOR MATCH-BOXES.
Specification forming part of Design NQ. 9,725, dated January 30, 1877; application tiled January 13,1187?.
' [Term of Potent 7 years] To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, PETER ROSENBAUH, of BrooklynkE. D., doing business in New York city, in the State of New York, have originated and designe-d e forin for Match-Boxes, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact descrip tion, reference beine,r had to the accompanying drawing, making part of this specification.
Figure l is a falce View, l(nid Fig. 2 e top View.
The match-box is intended to hang on the wall, and forms a wall pocket of a design which I esteem peculiarly tasty and attractive.
I designate this design as Gothic.
A represents the mein plate or body, and B B the bellied or swelled attached pieces at the front, which, with the back A and bottom O, form the box. Both the body A and the fronts B are of pointed outline, as indicated by M M. The outline is, furthermore, indented with smell notches, forming offsets or steps, as indicated by m m. The general effect is analogous to that produced by Gothic architecture. The
mein body A is thus pointed and notched both at the top cnd bottom. The front swells B are thus prepared et the top only; but corresponding decorations may be employed at the bottom of the parts B, if preferred. I propose to form the whole of perforated inatteriztl--perfbreted cznd-bozn'd-znnl to print or otherwise indicate thereon rose-buds or other devices, which will be wrought thereon with Worsted or silk; but [consider such entirely independent of my design.
My design may loe worked out in any meterial, and of any color or combinations of color.
What I claim as my invention islhe Gothic design for :t match-box or :nielogous well-pocket, having points M and notches m, presenting, the general appearance herein set forth.
PETER ROSENBAGH. Witnesses:
