WILLIAM TAIT, OF WEST READING, PENNSYLVANIA DESIGN FOR A STOCKING Application filed January 6, 1932. Serial No. 42,391. Term of patent 14 years.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that WILLIAM TAIT, a citizen .of the United States, and a resident of West eading, in the county of Berks and State of Pennsylvania, has invented a new, original, and ornamental Design for Stockings, oiwhich the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part hereof, in which:

Figure 1 is a diagrammatic side elevation of a stocking, the body portion of which from the lower edge of the welt to the junction of the leg with the foot is'formed of the novel design shown in more detail below the welt portion of Figure 2, the design attempted to be shown in Figure 1 being not an accurate representation of the design of the stocking and simply showing what portions of the stocking are covered by the design.

Figure 2 shows in the portion thereof below the welt the exact appearance of the design with which the leg portion of the stocking shown in Figure 1 is to be covered; the illustration in Figure 2, while being an accurate representation of the design is enlarged about three times the natural size in order to permit showing of the various threads which could not be adequately illustrated on a smaller scale.

A stocking embodying my invention will have its leg portion, between the welt and the foot, formed entirely of the design shown below the welt in Figure 2.

I claim the ornamental design for a stock ing substantially as shown and described.
