To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, PHILIP S. MALICK- SON, a subject of the Czar of Russia, and having resided in the United States one year last past and having declared my intentions of becoming a citizen thereof, residing in the city and county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new, original, and ornamental Design for a Tread- Surface for Tires, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part thereof.

Figure 1 represents a perspective view of a tread surface for a tire embodying my new design. Fig. 4 represents a transverse section thereof on an enlarged scale. Fig. 5 represents a side elevation of a portion on an enlarged scale.

In the drawings, the surface consists of a series of ornamentations each composed of transversely extending elliptical shaped channels 1, a transversely-extending channeled neck 2 centrally joining said channels 1, and an elliptical-shaped raised block 3 in each of the channels.

I claim The ornamental design for the tread surface of a tire as shown and described.
