` DESIGN FOR THE ENDS OF SCHOOL-DESKS AND SEATS.

The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.

I, GEORGE H. GRANT, of Richmond, in the county of Wayne and State of Indiana, have invented and produced a new and original Design for School-Furniture, of which the following is a specification.

The nature of my invention will appeal' by reference to the accompanying photographic illustration, in which- Figure 1 is a view of one of the standards or side frames of a combined school-desk and seat.

Figure 2 is a view oi' the reverse side of the corresponding standard with the removable pieces detaclied.

A represents the standard;

B, the seat-brackets;

C, the bolt for pivoting the seat-brackets to the standards;

D, the supporting flange for the desk;

E, the supporting flange for the book-shelf; and

F, a tongue or tenon for bracing the seat-back and standards.

As shown in fig. 1, the head of bolt C forms the center of the rosette of the joint-piece of the seat bracket and standard.

The main uprigbts of the standards are ornamentcd with leaf-Work. The upper portion, which supports` the desk and book-shelf, is made to represent branched rustic-work, and the lower part of the standard is formed into two legs, curving in opposite direciams4 and united by a brace or cross-bar.

The accompanying illustration renders further or more particular description of my design unnecessary.
