Description

JOHN L. DAWES, 0F PITTSBURG, PENNSYLVANIA.
Design No. 4,789, dated April 1l, 1871.
DESIGN FOR A BlTTER-TUBE.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, J oHN L. Dnwns, of Pittsburg, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improved Design for Bitter-Tube; and I do hereby declare the following to bea full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings making a part of this specification, in which- Figure l is a side, and
Figure 2 is a sectional view of the bitter-tube, and illustrative of my improved design.
Like letters oi' reference indicate like parts in each.
The bitter-tube shown is designed more particularly for use with bottles containing or designed to contain hitters, table-Sauces, duid extracts, catsup, vinegar, and other like fluids, which are designed for use in comparatively small quantities.
c is the tube.
I), the cork.
c, a flanged cap covering it.
s', a fastening-wire passing through an elongated eye or loop in the lower end oi' the stems s, to the upper end of which latter is fastened a double conical plug, e. The stem s has a little longitudinal play, so that the plug c can rise from and fall onto its seat.
I am aware that Stoppers for large-mouthed bottles have been made ou the same mechanical principles as those involved in the design described; hence I limit my design to the conformation of the small tube and plug, suitable for table-sauce and other bottles of like use.
'What I claim as my improved design, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for bitter-tube, substantially as shown.
In testimony whereof l, the said JOHN L. DAWES, have hereunto set my hand.
JOHN L. DAWES.
Vitnesses:
A. S. NICHOLSON, Tues. B. Kenn.
