Description

JAMES B. PAG-IN, OF VALPARAISO, INDIANA.
DESIGN FOR A COMBINATION-LAMP.
Specieation for Design.
Patented Mar. 3, 1914.
Application led August 15, 1912. Serial No. 715,304. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom 'it may concern Be it known that I, JAMES R. PAGIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Valparaiso, in the county of Porter and State of Indiana, have invented a new and original Design for Combination-Lamps, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part thereof.
F igure l, is a front elevation. Fig. 2, is aside elevation of a combination lamp. Fig. 3, is a top plan. Fig. 4, is a rear elevation.
The leading feature of my ornamental design consists in a lamp that has a dimension in one direction that is more extended than the other; that is non-circular in its general contour and which comprises a series of angular faces.
The ornamental design instanced in the accompanying figures of the drawing shows how the features of an angular outline combine With the circular structure of the various re-iecting surfaces.
The general characteristics of the ornamental design comprise an extended shape of the lamp casing, formed with angular ends 2 that are joined by center portions l. There is a forward projection or enlargement 3 to which the door 4 is hinged. The projection 3, door 4, and the back 5 have the same general outline as the body-a series of relatively straight faces joining each other. Relectors 6, 7 and 8 of circular form are placed Within the lamp. These conform to the two incomplete circles 9 which form the inner edge of the door 4. This edge is beveled so as to harmonize with the reflecting cone 7 and the parabolic reflector 8.
The ornamental effect of the two incomplete circular door openings 10 is enhanced by the separating projection 11 of a center Wies e! this patent my be obtsined for casting that supports a gas burner and the mirror 6 above and a parabolic reflector 8 beneath the same. A radially projecting fiange 12 reaches from beneath the door bevel to the parabolic mirror S in which an electric lamp bulb is placed.
The Ventilating hood 13 is composed of a series of angular faces in both vertical and horizontal planes. In front elevation this is substantially the same as the body portion of the casing. In side elevation the angular faces of the hood 13, and the forward enlargement 3 conform to each other. The angular faces of the back 5 also conform thereto. The hood is largest at its forward end and in a rearward direction it recedes until it meets the upper face of the body portion of the casing. Its sides drop down to meet the casing and ornamental Ventilating openings of variable areas are formed in each side.
The usual side brackets, hinges and door fasteners are used, as well as gas and electric connections. The door at its outer edge comprises a series of facets which join the circular openings thereof and the angular outline of its perimeter.
By way of summary, the ornamental aspect of the lamp comprises an extended angular external outline, and a circular inner contour of the door and reflecting surface.
I claim- The ornamental design for a combination lamp as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
JAMES R. PAGIN.
