Description

initd tant aient @Mite Design No. 4,318, dated August 30, 1870.
DESIGN FOR A CUSPADORE.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part nf the name.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that we, SAMUEL RoEBUcK and JOHN BOEBUCK, of the city of Brooklyn, county of Kings, State of New York, have originated and designed a new Pattern for (luspadores or Oospitores, of which the following is a full, true, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings furming part ot' this specification.
Figure 1 represents a perspective view of the cuspadore.
Figure 2, a sectional view through a line bisecting the cuspadcre perpeudicnlarly.
Similar letters of reference indicate similar parts.
A represents a hollow earthen vessel, capable of being used as a spittoon or receptacle for waste matter or the litter accumulating in parlors and other rooms, bar-rooms, te., and known in the crockcry and housefu'nishing trades under the name of cuspadore or cospl ore.
The peculiar configuration of A, as shown in the drawings, having a narrow neck, b, and along, widelyflaring top, c, calculated to catch readily and lead quickly into the body of the vessel d, any liquid matter deposited upon it, makes the cuspadore formed upon this design better adapted for its purpose as a spittoon than anything before produced, as we believe. At the same time it is well adapted for the reception of ornamentation on its outer surface, the style of which may vary, and forms no part of the design now claimed as new and of our invention.
Ouspadores have been articles of common use for aconsiderable number of years, but there has been little variation in the shapes. and we believe the shape of the cuspadore represented by A is desirable, useful, and new.
What we claim as our invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
lhe design for cuspadores, substantially as herein set forth.
SAMUEL ROEBUOK. JOHN ROEBUGK. Witnesses:
