To all whom it muy concern:

Be it known that I, WILLIAM H. RIcHAnDsox, of \Vest Roxbury, in the count-y of Norfolk and State of Massachusetts, hare invented or produced an Improved Design for a Paper-collar Box; and I do hereby declare that the following, taken in connection with the drawings which accompany and form partv of this specification, sufficient to enable t-ice it.

Paper collars, as articles of. wearing apparel, are now so largely manufactured, and those made by various manufacturers have so slight degrees of dii'erence, as to excellence of fabric and finish, that extraordinary means have to be taken by the respective manufacturers and dealers to so present their respective collars as to make them saleable over others. One of these means consists in putting up packages of collars in boxes more or less fanciful or ornamental in design, so that the box itselfis more or less of an acquisition to the purchaser of the collars, these boxes being so made that they do not materially increase tbe cost of the collar-packages, no adition to the price charged for the collars being added on account of the box.

My invention relates to the design or surface-ornamentation or conguration ofsuch a box; and

The drawings represent a. box embodying my design, the body or walls a of the box being shown as colored in imitation of the cedar of which cigar-boxes are generally made, and with blue border-stripes, b, in imitation of the blue strips of paper usually pasted around the corners of such boxes.

Ribbonlikestripes, c, closs the top and front ofthe box, (which stripes may also extend down the back,) while on the front of the box, and on more or less ot' the other outer surfaces thereof, are letters and characters similar to what may be found on cigar-boxes, indicating peculiar brands; and the printing may also represent the name and number of the collars, card of manufacture, &c.

The box is preferably made of a suitable size to hold ten collars, that being,r package.

The design makes a very neat appearance, and is particularly attractive to the eyes of lovers ofthe weed.

I claim- As a new design, a box for paper collars, made to represent the appearance of a cigar-box.
