UNITED STATES ATENT FFICE CHARLES RUPPEL, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA, ASSIGNOR TO VICTOR TALKING MACHINE COMPANY, A CORPORATION OF NEW JERSEY.
DESiGN FOR A @AEENIZT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 36,195, dated January 20, 1903.
Application filed December 1, 1902. Serial N0.1S3,930. Term of patent 14 years.
To atZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, CHARLES RUPPEL, acitizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, haveinvented and produced a new, original, and ornamental Design for Cabinets, of which the following; is a specification, reference being bad to the accompanying drawing, forming part thereof.
My design is illustrated in the accompanying drawing by a perspective view.
In the said drawing the top section 1 is substantially rectangular in torm, having the rounded corners 2, and each side of said top section is formed of a compound curve having a convex portion in about the center of each side, as shown at 3. The top at of the section 1 is of the same general contour as the sides, but projects slightly beyond the sides, as shown. A flange 5 projects from the lower portion of the section 1 and is of the same general shape and contour as the top a. The top a is provided adjacent its edges with an ornamental border 6, and within this border is a slightly-raised portion 7 of the same general outline as that of the edges of the top 4. An ornamental border Sis provided adjacent the edges of this raised panel. In the center of the panel 8 are oak-leaves, in conventional form, forming a centerpiece the outline of which corresponds substantially to that of the raised panel 7. The sides of the top section 1 are also provided with ornamentations of oak-leaves in conventional form, as shown.
The base or lower section of the cabinet, as 9, comprises a substantially rectangular body having a top flange 10, which is of the same general outline as that of the flange 5. The sides 11 of the base extend under the flange 10 and top section 1 and have formed on each side of their corners the claw-feet 12, which form. the support for the cabinet. These claw-feet have conventional leaves, as shown at 13, on each side, which curve upwardly and form the lower edges of the sides ll by joining an ornamental centerpiece 14. The sides 11 are further ornamented with the stipple-work and conventional leaves shown in the drawing.
The leading or material feature of my design is a top section of substantially rectangular form having its sides formed with compound cnrves, with a convex portion in its center, a projecting or overhanging top 1 and bottom 5 of the same general outline, and a base portion 9 of substantially rectangular form, having the claw-feet 12 extending outwardly from each corner.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is The ornamental design for a cabinet substantially as herein shown and described.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 2d day of December, A. D. 1902.
CHARLES RUPPEL.
