Description

diluted finite;
CI-IRISJOPHER SlVII'lII, Oh YVARSAW, INDIANA.
Design No. 3,528, dated June 1, 1869.
DESIGN FOR A PLOW.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHRISTOPHER SMITH, of Warsaw, in the county of Kosciusko, and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Designs for Plows and Plow-Beams; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, in which like letters refer to like parts in the different figures.
To enable others skilled in the arts to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe its configuration.
Figure 1 represents a perspective view of my plow, presenting the configuration of the mould-board side.
Figure 2 represents the opposite side.
The nature of my invention consists in the arrangement and combination of certain curved lines which, in their outline, form an ornamental configuration, which embraces great utility and beauty.
The beam of my plow consists of an iron bar, which springs from the share, and curves sharply upward and forward, until it reaches a horizontal direction. It thence curves slightly downward, and then slightly rises to its terminus, said curve and form of said beam conforming in every particular to the drawings of the same, as seen in figs. 1 and 2.
A represents an ornamental device, which is carved on the side of said beam in basso relieve, as seen in the drawings, fi 1.
B represents an ornamental design, which is carved on the opposite side of said plow-beam, as seen in fig. 2.
0 represents an ornamental design, which consists in the arrangement of certain letters which are carved on the side of said plow-beam, and which form a trademark for said plow, as seen in the drawings, and which I desire to have secured to me by Letters Patent, as a trade-mark.
I am aware that curved metallic beams have been used extensively for plows. I, therefore, do not claim as embraced in my design curved beams generally; but I do claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent-- The exact curve represented in my drawings, when used with the designs A and B and O, as described.
CHRISTOPHER SMITH.
