Description

DESIGN.
Patented Sept. 3, I901. J. B. CONRAD. STORAGE BATTERY PLATE.
(Application filed Apr. 10, 1901.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN BELL CCNRAD, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
DESIGN FOR A STORAGE-BATTERY PLATE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 35,030, dated September 3, 1901.
Application filed April 10, 1901. Serial No. 55,259. Term of patent 7 years.
T0 at whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, JOHN BELL CONRAD, of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Design for Storage-Battery Plates, of which the following is a specification.
The accompanying drawings illustrate the features of the design, the views therein shown being as follows:
Figure 1 is a side view of a storage-battery plate embodying my design. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section of the plate, taken on the line 2 2 of Fig. 1; and Fig. 3 is a transverse section of same, taken on the line 3 3 of Fig. 1.
The principal or characteristic features of the present design or invention are shown in the drawings, of which the following is a description.
Connecting two of the sides of the frame are the transverse bars or rods b b, arranged in two series, so that the flat side of one rod of a series is succeeded by the rounded side of a rod of the other series. These rods or bars are made half-round, as shown at b and are arranged with the flat side of each rod flush with the surface of the rim of the plate. The rounded side of each rod also is placed below the surface of plate, as shown at b Ribs c are placed between the bars or rods b I). These rods are of a thickness in depth equivalent to the rim or greater thickness of the plate. The ribs 0 are intended as strengthening parts to the plate and are made to cross the plate diagonally. All the parts of the plate A are made integral by casting or forming same in any suitable manner. The plate so formed serves as a member to which a paste, such as red lead, which is generally known as the active material, is attached.
lVhat I claim is The design for a storage-battery plate substantially as set forth. I
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my signature this 4th day of April, 1901.
JOHN BELL CONRAD. In presence of- FRED W. KRAFT, ALEX. HALvERsoN.
