\IIH/ 200 1766666 Enveiflbr W lgiubzt UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
LEE WARD, OF YANOEY, TEXAS.
DESIGN FOR AN ANTIRATTLER FOR WAGON-BODIES.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, LEE WARD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Yancey, in the county of Medina and State of Texas, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Antirattlers for Wagon-Bodies; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
My invention relates to antirattlers designed for wagon-bodies; and it consists in the new and original design illustrated in the drawings.
In the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, Figure 1 is a side elevation of the antirattler, and Fig. 2 is a front elevation looking in the direction of the arrow shown in Fig. 1.
The essential feature of my design consists of a body portion formed of a coiled spring, its upper end terminating in a hook-shaped arm adapted to project and fit over or grasp the top portion of the sides of a wagon-body, while the lower end of said body portion terminates in a perforated lug facing sidewise or at right angles to the hook-shaped arm and having its lower end bent to form a purchase or handle.
Referring more particularly to the drawings, A denotes the body portion of the antirattler, which consists of a coiled spring.
B denotes the hook-shaped arm projecting above the body portion and facing forward, as shown in Fig. 1.
C denotes a lug projecting below the spring and facing sidewise, as shown in Fig. 2, provided with perforations c c 0, adapted to receive abolt running sidewise through a standard of the wagon-body above the wagon-bed. 0' denotes the bent end of said lug, which serves as a purchase for bearing down on the spring when the antirattler is placed in position.
Having shown and described my invention,
what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for an antirattler for wagonbodies substantially as shown and described. In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
LEE WARD.
