UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
OTTO W. SOHAUM, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR A RACK AND HOOK FOR SHEDDING MECHANISMS.
To all whom it may concern.-
Beit known that I, OTTO W. SOHAUM, acitizen of the United States, residing in Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Design for a Rack and Hook for Shedding Mechanism; and I do hereby declare the followingto bea full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
In the accompanying drawings, wherein corresponding letters of reference indicate like parts, I have fully illustrated my invention.
In said drawings, Figure 1 is a view in side elevation of a hook and rack for a shedding mechanism constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the device, and Figs. 3 and at are respectively sectional views on the lines 00 a; and y y in Fig. 1.
As the essential feature of design the rack and hook which is the subject of the said design comprehends in its construction two elongated members or portions, of which one is the rack portion and hasa bifurcation forming a socket at one end and of which the other is the hook portion and has one of its ends fitted into said socket, the meeting ends of said members being penetrated by a pin.
The rack portion a consists of a flat bar having teeth 1) on one edge and flanges 0 along the base-line of said teeth and projecting from both faces of the bar. At one end said bar has an enlargement d of about the thickness of the bar through the flanged portion thereof,
which enlargement is bifurcated, as at e, and is penetrated by an opening f.
The hook portion g of the device consists of a bar which is substantially straight for almost its entire length and then is turned downwardly slightly at one end. From the upper edge of this bar extends a projection or spur h, which toward one end of the member presents an abrupt abutment 6, while from the lower edge of the bar extends a similar projection j, which toward the other end of the memberpresents an abutment 7c. The end portion of the member which is turned out of its general plane is provided with an opening Z.
The perforated end of the part g is received by the bifurcated enlargement of the memher a, their two openingsfl being alined and receiving a pin m.
It should be remarked that the end of the member g which is received in the socket which the bifurcated enlargement d affords is rounded, as at n, and that the bottom of said socket is formed with a concavity 0, which approximately fits said rounded end.
Having thus fully described myinvention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for a rack and hook for ashedding mechanism substantiallyas herein shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 22d day of November, 1900.
OTTO tV. SOHAUM.
