DESIGN FOR A TELEPHONE-TRANSMlTTER-ARM BASE.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 33,640, dated. December 4, 1900.

Application filed October 20, 1900. Serial No. 33,785. Term of patent 7 years.

lie it known that I,\VILLIA.\1 J. BARR, acitizen of the United States,residi ng at Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a lelephonc-'lransmitter- Arm Base; and [do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being, had to the accompanying: drawings, forming a part thereof.

My design pertains to the base to which the transmitter-arm of a telephone is commonly pivotally attached in use.

In the drawings, Figure 1 is a view in side elevation of a base, exhibiting my novel de sign. Fig. 2 is an end elevation thereof, and Fig. is a sectional View taken on line .r 4:: of Fig. :3.

A represents the hollow box-like body or shell of the base, which is secured to the desired support.

l ll represent two lugs or cars, between which the transinitter-arm is pivoted so as to be adjustable within certain limits of height of the mouthpiece of the transmitter, and O 0 represent webs extending between the lugs H l on each side and joining the same rigidly to a height about equal to half that of the lugs ll B. All corners are rounded or relieved, as shown, and a graceful, neat, and pleasing form is thereby produced.

lhe base is usually finished by japanning or plating; but the finish, whatever it may be, forms no part of my design, which resides in the form of the base.

The leading or material feature of my design consists in the webs C G joining the basal part of the lugs B B and merging into the top part u. of the body of the base, as shown, thereby giving a neater finish and more attractive design than if the lugs were separated for their whole height.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
