DESIGN FOR A FIELD RING OR FRAME FOR ELECTRIC MOTORS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No 32,325, dated March 6, 1900.

To (LIZ 10700722, it may concern.-
Be it known that I, CHARLES A. LINDSTROM, a citizen of the United States, residing at Ohicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented and produced a new and original Design for the Field Ring or Frame of Electric Motors, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is an end view of a field ring or frame of an electric motor embodying my new design. Fig. 2 is an edge view of the ring, partly broken away to show the peculiar location of the field-poles.
The principal feature of my new design consists in a circular field-ring A, having its outer circumference convex in cross-section, provided with flat slightly-raised marginal surfaces Z) at its ends, said surfaces extending inwardly, so as to constrict the internal di ameter of the ring at the ends thereof and having four similar equidistant field-poles B, projecting radially inward from its inner circumference, angular in cross-section.
Theinner ends of field-poles B are concaved and separated by intervals equaling one and one-quarter times the width of said poles, and their length corresponds to about one-fourth the diameter of the field-ring, and they are located midway between the ends of the ring, as clearly shown in Fig. 2. The field-ringalso has a slightly-raised flattened attaching-surface 0, projecting from its outer periphery at one side, and a suspending-lug D, projecting therefrom almost diametrically opposite the surface 0.
The end openings of the field-ring are of less diameter than that of the inner circumference of the fieldring proper, from which the four field-poles B project. The annular marginal surfaces I), referred to above, are slightly raised and made perfectly flat on a plane at right angles to the axial plane of the field-ring and are of uniform width, except that they are provided with holes c. These holes are located at equal distances apart, are intersected by the radial planes striking mid- Way between the field-poles, and the outer segments of the mouths thereof are surrounded by semicircular embossments, the faces of which are on the same plane as said marginal surfaces and form a part thereof.
