SWITCH BLADE.
A umim mu 00. 7, 1899.)
g INVENTZR WfiNEY I UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
GEORGE CHRISTOPHER HERZ, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN FOR A SWITCH-BLADE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 31,797, dated November 7, 1899.
Ap li ation filed October '7, 1899- Serial No. 732,972. Term of patent 3% years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, GEORGE CHRISTOPHER HERZ,acitizen of the United States, residing atNew York, (Long Island City,) in the county of Queens and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Switch-Blades; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying sheet of drawings, forming a part thereof.
My invention relates to an original design for switch-blades for electric switches commonly known as knife-switches.
The design is illustrated in the accompanying one sheet of drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of a switchblade embodying my design. Fig. 2 is an end View of the same looking down upon Fig. 1.
As shown in the drawings, the leading or material feature of my design consists of a flat blade of metal 1, having the upper or outer end thereof out inwardly from the edges,
as shown at 6 6, and the partly-cutaway portion 4 of the end of said blade bent into cylindrical form, leaving only the open slot 7 between the approaching edges of said cutaway portion 4:. The inner surface of the cylindrical section so formed is provided with a helical groove 5, forming a screw-thread. One edge of the blade is beveled, as shown at 3, and the other end of said blade is provided with a circular perforation 2.
It is apparent that this design is also applicable to knife-blades for other purposes.
Having therefore described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to protect by Letters Patent, is
The design for a knife-switch blade as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
GEORGE CHRISTOPHER HERZ. Witnesses:
GEO. H. BENJAMIN, J. E. PEARSON.
