DESIGN FOR A VEHICLE-WHEEL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 31,683, dated October 17, 1899.
Application filed August 21, 1899. Serial No. 728,016. Term of patent 7 years,

lle it known that I, IELWOOD C. PHILLIPS, a citizen ofthe United States, residing at Ohicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Vehicle-W heels, (Case A and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification.
Thisinvention relates to a design for wheels for heavy Wagons, trucks, and the like; and my said design consists in the structural configuration hereinafter described, and illustrated in the drawings.
In the accompanying drawings, illustrative of the present invention, Figure 1 is a side elevation, and Fig. 2 a View one-half in elevation and one-half in section.
As shown in the drawings, the web and hub portion of the wheel are formed by two counterpart plate members 4 and 5, each of which is formed with a flanged annular rim portion 6, which in turn comprises an outturned cylindrical portion at right angles to the main central web portion and an outwardly-extending plate portion, the periphery of which is formed with an inturned annular ange 7, that fits a concentric recess in the side of the wheel-tire.
One of the plate members above described is formed with the wheel-hub l). The other plate member is formed hublcss to flt over and bear upon the hub of thc other member, as shown.
The completed wheel consists of the abovedescribed web members and the tire member, the whole being fixedlyand substantially attached together` The outer portion l of the tire is of a substantially cylindrical form in cross-section, and the inner portion 2 of the tire is rectan gnlar in cross-section, the two portions being integrally connected together by a central web 3, as shown, to leave at each side of the tire a concentric recess to receive the inturned marginal flange of the adjacent plate or web member heretofore described.
