Application filed January 30, 1899. Serial No. 703,906. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom, it Hung concur/t.-
Be it known that I, FRANK TAYLOR, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Rochester, in the county of Monroe and State of New York, have invented and produced a certain new and original Design for a Scale, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a design for a scale for thermometers and other measuringinst-ruments; and it consists in the new and original scale, substantially as herein shown and described.
1n the drawings, A A are parallel lines of substantially equal length, indicating the greater graduations, and B B are sets of equal nu mhers of equidistant parallel lines parallel to and between each pair of adjacent lines A A. The lines 13 1 indicating the smaller graduations, are arranged in sets alternating on the two sides of the middle vertical line of the scale. In other Words, between any two adjacent lines A A, indicating a greater gradnation, is a set of parallel lines l ll, indicating the smaller graduations, extending outward in one direction from the middle vertical line of the scale, and between the lines A A, representing the greater graduation next to the one just mentioned, is another set of parallel lines D I which extends outward from said middle vertical line and in the opposite direction from the set of lines ll ll just mentioned.
The leading feature of this design consists in the scale having upon it a grad nation pattern consisting of the lines A A and ll ll.
\Vhat I claim is The design for a scale herein shown and described.
FRANK TAYLOR.
