UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE \VILLIAM II. GRINDLEY, OF CONGLETON, ENGLANIl.
DESIGN FOR A DISH.
SPEGIFIGATION forming part of besign No. 29,618, dated November 8, 1898.
Application filed September 9, 1898. Serial No. 6530;602. Term of patent 3% years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, WILLIAM H. GRINDLEY, a subject of the Queen of Great Britain, residing at Congleton, Cheshire, England, have invented a certain new and original Design for a Dish; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part hereof.
In the drawing the figure is a plan view of a dish embodying my design, the leading features of which are as follows:
A center quatrefoil a in outline is placed near the edge of the dish. springing from this on the right is a single curved line b, which at first is approximately parallel to the outer edge of the dish, but which runs away therefrom to a point 0, where it curves toward such edge, and then being reversed in a wide curve crosses itself at d and then continues onward and toward the edge until it is lost in an ornamental line 6, parallel with the outer edge of the dish. During its course the line b is interrupted by small dots, as h h, and by two outline trefoils f and g, the axis of the middle leaf of which in each case coincides with the direction of the line 1). Springing from the quatrefoil a to the left is a similar line b, curved in precisely an opposite direction to the line b and ornamented at similar places by the outline trefoils f and g and the dots h 71.. Between each panel containing the design formed by the central quatrefoii a and the lines I) and b and their ornaments is placed a cusp-like figure m, springing from the edge of the plate and pointing toward the center, and between it and the center is placed a trefoil y, the axis of the middle leaf of which is a radial line of the dish. This figure is repeated around the dish a number of times, as shown. What I claim as new is The design foradish snbstantiaily as shown and described.
Witness my hand this 26th day of August, 1898, in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
WILLIAM H. GRINDLEY.
Witnesses:
