DESIGN FOR A BRAKE-SHOE.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 28,542, dated May 3, 1898.

Application filed January 12, 1898. Serial No. 666,466. Term of patent 3 years.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, OLIVER BUCKLEY WHIT- NEY, of Marlborough, in the county of Ulster and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Brake-Shoe, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact specification.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective View of a brakeshoe embodying my design; and Fig. 2 is a cross-section of the same on the line 2 2, Fig. 1. The invention relates to brake-shoes applied between car-wheels and rails.

The leading feature of the design consists in an approximately wedge-shaped shoe-block having a straight base A and a segmental base B, terminating in a wedge-shaped point C and formed with a depression D, having a narrow strip or tongue E at one side of the shoe-block, the said strip E terminating at or near the beginning of the point C.

Minor features are the depression F and the boss G at the side of the block, together with the flange H at one side of the base A.

I claim- The design for a brake-shoe, as herein shown and described.
