DESIGN FOR A CAN-OPEN ER BLADE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 27,781, dated October 26, 1897.
Application filed August 2, 1897. Serial No- 64B,825- Term of patent 7 years.

Be it known that I, JOHN J AGOB GALLMAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Fullerton, in the county of Orange and State of California, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Can-Opener Blade, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a canopener blade, showing my new design. Fig. 2 is a view of the same looking from below at the back of the blade. Fig. 3 is a plan view. Fig. 4 is a side elevation.
My new design for a can-opener blade comprisesashank A, provided Witha blade (1., projeeting therefrom, having a cutting edge a curving upward and forward from the end of the shank, a portion of the sides of the blade being straight near the shank, as at a, and the blade being curved at its point, as at a'. At the end of the shank and at the side of the blade from which the shank curves is a shoulder m, having therein a groove a"", the groove extending alongside the blade and appearing when the shank is viewed looking toward the back of the blade, as shown in Fig. 2.
The characteristic features of the design are the grooved shoulder on the shank and the blade having a straight portion and a curved point.
Vhat I claim is The design for a can-opener blade substantially as shown and described.
