SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 27,540, dated August 1'7, 1897'.
Application filed September 19,1896. Serial No. 606,446- Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JOHN H. VINTON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Boston, in the county of Suffolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Movable Jaw for Wrenches, of which the following is a specification, reference being bad to the accompanying drawing, forming part thereof.
The drawing sho ws in perspective a wrenchjaw illustrating my design.
The leading feature of my design for a movable wrench-jaw consists in a shank having fiat sides, curved hack and front toothed edges, and an overhanging or offset head, the sides of which are in the same plane as the sides of the shank and having a curved periphery, portions of said head beinglaterally extended at each side beyond the planes of the sides thereof and at right angles to the shank and united to the main body of the jaw by curved surfaces.
As shown in the drawing, the shank a and head I) are of equal thickness, the opposite curved back and front edges a a ofthe shank being threaded, the shank having flat parallel sides in the planes of the sides of the head I), the latter having a curved periphery and being laterally extended at each side at 1') beyond the planes of the sides and at right angles to the shank, forming a broad working surface toothed as at 11 The lateral extensions b' are united with the main body of the jaw by curved surfaces merging thereinto in pleasing and graceful curves.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patcut, is-
The design for a movable jaw for Wrenches, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
