Description

DESIGN.
J. P. HEWITT.
GAS BURNER.
No. 24,241. Patented Apr. 23, 1896.
y" Db UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOSEPH F. IIEVVITT, OF ALLEGHENY, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR A GAS-BURNER.
SPECIFICATION forming part Of Design NO. 24,241, dated April 23, 1895.
Application filed February 20. 1895. Serial No. 539,144. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, J QSEPH F. HEWITT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Allegheny, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have i nvented and produced a new and original Design for Gas-Burners; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
Figure 1 is a front elevation; and Fig. 2 is a bottom plan.
The leading feature of the design for a burner consists in its general contour comprising a curved front and the approximately flat back having as a whole a general resemblance to a chip cut from a tree.
Numeral 1 denotes a slightly convex front of the burner having a square or approximately square plan. Said front is provided with small openings 2 and has fanciful imitations of small knots in or near the corrugated surface, and 3 indicates a cylindrical opening.
5 denotes a straight transverse portion at the rear of the burner.
The appearance of the front of the burner resembles in a general way the surface of a chip or section from a large log placed on end and is of a character adapted by association and otherwise to produce a pleasing eiferl'. Further as shown the burner has a curved contour extending toward its front throughout practically its entire extent, which conformation considered in itself imparts a pleasing and useful effect.
What I claim is The design for a gas burner as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have ailixed my signature in presence of two witnesses.
JOSEPH F. ll E W I'l"l.
