PATENT OFFICE.
EMIL U. MERTZ AND 'lllEO C. MERTZ, OF NEW ARK, NEW JERSEY.
DESIGN FOR A FlNGER-RING.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 22,913, dated November 21, 1893.
Application filed October 7, 1893. Serial No, 487,521. Term of patent 3% years.
To 0253 whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, EMIL (J. MERTZ and THEO G. MERTZ, citizens of the United States, residing at Newark, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented and produced an original Design for Finger- Rings, of which the following is a specification.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a finger ring embodying our design, and Fig. 2 is an enlarged top View thereof.
The same letters of reference denote the same parts in the two views, which we deem necessary to fully illustrate our design.
The leading feature of our design consists in a raised double wreath having three settings. The large end of each wreath commences upon either side of the middle setting and falls in opposite directions until the small ends are consumed by the body of the ring. The middle setting A, has upon either side a similar setting 15. The large ends a, of the wreaths C, commence at the middle setting A, and aided by the leaves 0, entirely surround the said settings. The wreaths are then Woven in opposite directions between the settings A, and B, so that they entirely surround the latter, and show clearly the outline of the wreaths between each setting. The edges of the wreath fall regularly to either edge of the ring, which is widened as far as the wreath extends.
hat we claim is- The design for a finger ring as herein shown and described.
In witness whereof we hereunto set our hands in the presence of two witnesses.
EMIL C. MERTZ. THEO C. MERTZ. \Vitnesses:
CARSON BERNTHEISEL,
PHILLIPP TREIBER.
