Description

DESIGN.
H. HOOK.
GIMP.
No. 22,266; Patented Mar. 7, 1893.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HARRY HDOK, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA, ASSIGNOR TO PARTRIDGE (in RICHARDSON, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR GIMP.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 22,266, dated March 7, 1893.
Application filed January 25, 1893. Serial No. 459,740. Term of patent 3% years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HARRY HOOK, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city and county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a certain new and original Design for Gimp for Dress-Trimmings,of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
My new and original design consists of a series of diamond-shaped figures disposed one within each of the bights of a cord, which follows a sinuous or serpentine path. I
In the accompanying drawing the cord is double and designated a, and, as shown, it follows a regular serpertine or sinuous path forming reversely disposed loops or bights of uniform proportions, the openings of which face successively in opposite direction s. Each diamond-shaped figure b is of such transverse breadth that its upper and lower corners do not extend respectively to the inner and outer limits of the particular bight in which it is situated, but its longitudinally opposite side corners are respectively in close proximity to the respective sides of the said bight. The diamond-shaped figu res are all longitudinally aligned, and the spaces between the opposing corners of adjacentfigures being occupied by the cord described, a continuous line of stitching which traverses the diamond-shaped figures and also crosses the cord at the points where it lies between said figures, binds the whole firmly together. The diamond-shaped figures present a ribbed effect, arising out of the fact that each is composed of a cord folded transversely and repeatedly upon itself in folds of such length and number as to impart the required shape, the cord of the successive figures being continuous from one figure to the other.
Having thus described my invention, I claim The design for gimp for dress trimmings herein described and illustrated.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have hereunto signed my name this 20th day of January, A. D. 1893.
HARRY HOOK. In presence of- F. NORMAN DIXON, MONTGOMERY RUSSELL.
