DESIGN FOR METAL TUBING.
Application filed May 22, 1885. Serial No. 166,398.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, AUGUST F. PEEIEER, of Newark, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and origi- 5 nul Design for Tubing,of which the following isa full, clear, and exact description.
lhisinvention relates to a design fortnbiug;
and it consists of spiral ribs and intermediate grooves of equal width between the ribs.
The nature of my design is clearly shown in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 represents a. side view of a tube made according to my design; Fig. 2, a vertical longitudinal section, and Fig. 3 a vertical transverse section on line m 0:, Fig. 2.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A in the drawings represents a tube, provided with spiral ribs (1. and intermediate spiral grooves, b, of equal width with the ribs a, whereby the appearance of atube twisted bodily on its axis is imparted.
Term of patent 7 years.
i I am aware that metal tubes composed of 1 several strands twisted together have been in use heretofore, and I do not claim the same.
I llnving thus described my design, 1 claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent The design for a tube, substantially its herein shown and described, the same consisting of 0 the spiral ribs, the grooves between the ribs being of the Same width as said ribs, the sides of the grooves being concave and the sides of i the ribs convex.
